I'm heading to Belize at the end of this month to hook up with some friends who have been travelling around central America for a bit. The only thing is I don't have a clue about the place, ie what is there to do there, are there any places of particular interest worth checking out etc. If anybody has been there it would be great to hear a bit about it.

It's a cool spot alright, mainly known for it's diving. Everything was really expensive there compared to the surrounding countries (Mexico, Guatelmala, Honduras), so you'll probably be paying close to Irish prices for everything. I wasn't certified to dive while I was there so I only spent a couple of days in Belize and continued on into Honduras where I got certified.

There are some nice lodges off the Hummingbird Highway in the south if you like that kind of thing. Other options are to head to the Cayes (islands), where the diving is supposed to be amazing.

Becareful if you're in Belize City. It's sketchy to say the least.
