What are Ghosts?

Can anybody answer my question, what is a Ghost?

Is it a photographic hologram where by depending on cosmic/electromagnetic radiation, etc an image of someone/thing that passed that way before becomes visible. This image has no communication or acknowledgement with the viewer ie a living person.

Or is it the spirit of a dead person who can communicate and acknowledge the presence of a living person?

I've seen ghosts in the past and I've never had one acknowledge my presense therefore I consider them to be images of the past.

Is poltergeist activity caused by the earth's magnetic field ?

This is a bit like walking up to a convention of scientists and saying "How does the universe work?"

You'll get a thousand theories and opinion for each and every one of those questions. Some people will say they are fully sentient spirits of people, some will say they're just recordings, others will say they're just mistakes, errors and lies.

point taken, but has anybody who has seen a ghost, did the ghost acknowledge them?

yes i have intereacted with spirits on a couple of occassions so i'd say to ou current understanding and beliefs they are a mix of conscious beings and recordings.

I'm sure others will respond with their stories. My only experience so far is a consistent wierd sensation when in some old places.

If I recal, 6th told me about having a conversation with a French or Spanish ghost before...

Nobody can definitively answer this, since science hasn't even proven the existence of ghosts yet, nevermind the nature of them. But from sme cases, what you say here is true.

No - at least pretty positively no. Many poltergeist phenomenon have been reported in different locations with the same family (eg. they moved house). If it was the earth's magnetic field then the effect should be localised or at least much more widespread. There are theories that poltergeist activity may be the result of latent telekinetic powers disturbed during puberty (in many cases there is a boy or girl going through puberty in the house), or that 'spirits' may be able to tap into a psychic energy which is produced during the puberty changes.

Nobody knows.

Ghosts appear as any form of apparition you could care to imagine. People have reported voices in their minds, voices in the air, see-through figures, shadowy figures, perfectly normal looking figures, smells, sounds. Anything and everything.

The majority were probably perfectly normal everyday things seen out of context, but many argue that the rest are something else.

There are different types of phenomena people refer to as "Ghosts". I would define a "Ghost" as a visual image frozen in time. Good examples are the type seen gliding along corridors of old houses and castles, usually dressed in period costume, mostly women, like "The White Lady" of Charle's Fort in Kinsale. This type of Energy rarely notices the living, or interacts with them. Then there are Apparitions. "Time of Death apparitions are quite a common occurrence as people often wake up to see a loved one, who then vanishes, only to be informed that this loved one actually died in another place at that time. In a way it's a last visit as the Soul leaves the body. Then we have Polterkinetic Energy, which may emanate from the living as well as the dead, usually referred to as poltergeists. So objects moving about by themselves, footsteps, doors banging etc when no-one is there, are usually signs of Polterkinetic Energy. So really "ghost" is just a general term that covers a variety of phenomena. Hope this helps.

I dont know if "acknowledge" would be the correct word in my case, but interact, yes definitely. I've seen one particular case five times now in the same spot. Once, it looked directly at me, and as I walked past the place where I see it (it had disappeared by then), one of those big orange globes that flash at pedestrian crossings exploded right beside me. Scared the bejibbidies out of me.

Does anyone know how much control over their actions ghosts have? Are they stuck in a particular place or can they move around like us? Can they control how and when they manifest?

There are so many theories on what ghosts are and if you read the above you will see that there are possibly many types of ghosts.

Do you mean conscious spirits? As in entities that appear to be aware?
