Really Sore Knees

Hi, I train in the gym 5 times a week, cardio, weights, classes and so on. Lately my knees are very painful the day after training, someone actually told me that it's not my knees that are sore but the tendons and ligaments around my knees. If I continue training without getting this looked at do you think it would cause permanent damage, and if I do get it looked at, where should I go, to a physio or doctor? I have been taken glucsomine(tablets for joint pain) or something like that but doesn't seem to be having any effect. Any tips or advice would be welcome!

    Hey PinkGirl,

You're best bet is to get yourself to a physiotherapist for an assessment. The doctor/GP unless they are into sports themselves and have a sound understanding of musculoskeletal assessment will most likely prescribe you a course of anti-inflammatory medication and rest.

The Physiotherapist can assess the injury and advise on the best course of action i.e rest, adjusted training regime, rehabilitative exercise and/or specific treatment. They can also recommend whether a trip to the GP for a course of medication would be of benefit to you.

I wouldn't leave it much longer to get it checked out. The quicker you get it checked out the quicker it can be solved.

    Good Luck

I'm not from Dublin so can you tell me what areas are included in the Dub 15 catchment area?

I know of an excellent girl in Clonee.... if that is of any help.
