Patch 1.3 Help

Due to the 'other' thread being all over the shop I thought that if anyone needed help with 1.3 they could post here and I can tell them everything I've picked up from trawling the net this morning

1) Engineers can no longer repair commander assets from within vechiles. EDIT : Yes they can, you just don't get the sound and the repair icon.

2) Crash-to-Desktop. A lot of people have been getting this. You will get a CTD if you a) renamed bf2.exe to something else and didn't rename back before patching; b) Edited your HOSTS file for the ABR (alternative Battlefield Ranking)

3) If you get a CTD when you hit the 'join game' button then try using the ESC button instead.

4) Patch 1.3 has killed the All Seeing Eye and other 3rd party game browsers (except Gamepsy I think).

5) The 'Refresh' button is no longer on the ingame browser.

6) Some servers are not reporting the list of players playing in the game browser.

7) If you class servers by ping in the ingame broswer you may find yourself clicking on a server to join only to find yourself joining a different one. This is due to the new way that the browser dynamically updates the server list. You update the list of servers and class by ping and find one to join. You double-click on it to join but the first 'click' will select and update the server info. If the ping has changed then it'll shoot to a different part of the list and the second-click seems to join a different server

Aye in game browser is terrible now. However for me the game seems to be running better, more optimized if you like. I did suffer one CTD but cant put that down to the game as could be pc related.

The server browser is really annoying , Surely they will go back and try and hotfix it to something more useable

I get problem 3 a lot. Also problem 7also occured for me and I normally sort list according to maps. Had two Great Wall servers listed. clicking once on either would cause them both to swap places with each other. Very annoying!

Included with the 1.3 patch release, there was also a new gamespy protocol that fixed a security hole, the old gamespy protocol had a DDoS issue, which was very serious.

Use http://www.qtracker.com/ they have updated there server browser an it is working with BF2 1.3

But please keep in mind that you will no longer be able to query Battlefield 2 servers with Qtracker that do not have the 1.3 or higher patch installed.

the number up in the top right hand corner i presumed was the version
but mine is 1.1.234 or something should it not be 1.3 or is it not to do with the version u are running

is anyone playing tig atm i can only see 2 servers atm 16 + 32 and they are empty

No. You're looking at the game version. 1.3 is the just the patch.

Patch 1.2 = Game Version 1.1.2720-552.0

I can't remember what patch 1.3 is equal to but it should be higher than 1.1.2x

S10, if you aren't seeing the proper game version then you'll have to reapply patch 1.3 I'm afraid.

The 'red/blue' bug is worse than ever. Now not only are some friendlies showing up with red names, theyre showing up in the actualy oppsing sides skin, i.e. playing as US i saw someone who was obviously MEC but shooting at him gave a team damage point, and he didnt fire back, i stopped shooting, and turned out he was actually on the US side, happened a good few times to me today

This sounds bad, you sure you hadent been drinking? This can happen when I play at the weekend pissed all kinda things happen then.

No usually when im pissed the only things that happen are my chatting up skills improve and women find me irresistible, at least im SURE thats what im like when im drunk..:D
But no, this definitely happened! playing as US, definitely a guy with an MEC skin fighting on my team, havent noticed it today, but did notice an alarming amount of CTD's..3 in total this afternoon. In fact, i had a bloody NIGHTMARE with BF2 today..involving the installation of special forces which almost led me to uninstall everything and never touch bf again..

Anyone using an image could try unload it, then load the game from the Cd then when done reload the image.

Down with that sort of thing.
