Ok, so I never watch Eurovision, so I know feck all about it, but do people here think maybe next year Ireland, being a county that prides it's self on it's humor, Ja think we could get Podge & Rodge into it, make them sing one of there many songs!? Maybe the Fester & Allen, or what was the one with the upside down banjo? Just a thought.... I'm sure they'd win for being puppets, It's original anyway..... plus the humor factor alone.... what ja think, could we start a petition!?? ;)

I'd rather see some talent win it.

This year's winner was like a breath of fresh air in this pathetic annual debacle! I blame Dana for our slushy stuff. It worked once or twice and every year we try to carbon copy the formula. The grannies who voted for this slush are no longer with us. Real music will prevail

There are other forms of pop music apart from that Kennedy/Keating/Boyzone stuff. One day we may get some AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Doors, Queen, Knoppler sort of music. :p;)

    No, it wouldn't.

If your going to go for the comedy type entry then it has to be something that the other countries will get.

Iceland's joke entry failed because no one else knew it was a joke, Latvia's entry did fairly well but the Greek audience seemd to be taking their lyrics too seriously and booed them on stage and whenever anyone gave them points. Finland just went for the visual strangeness which is much easier to understand across the different countries and so won it.

Podge & Rodge are visually strange enough to make an impact with our continental cousins. They should sing their classic "You Should Never Shove A Banger Up Your Arse At Halloween". It'd be better than that twat Brian Kennedy anyway.

That would be "A CRY for LOVE" would it now?
    Bring back DANA.
We could put Finian MacGrath forward.:D

A podge and Rodge entry would fall flat on its face as the humour is too parchial.

It's the Eurovision..... It's not exactly the best TV viewing on earth! Lets not take it so serious people! Using Puppet comedian's like Podge & Rodge to "Take the pi$$" outta an idea like the Eurovision might in some peoples eyes make for bad TV but I for one think it would be great. And i'm sure a large precentage of the Irish Public would love it.

While the uk tune was indeed catchy, it fell down in the live performance. It was a little dumb to use adults to play the part of kids, but then they had little choice given the rules of the eurovision and its restrictions on people under the age of 16 taking part in the contest.

the silent majority no doubt

Taking the piss out of it does not guarantee that it will win like you earlier stated. Previous pisstakes have failed to win in the past.

I think we shoul dfollow finlands example - get a few fellas dressed up as leprechauns - mad masks, red hair and that and a stage covered in trees and pots of gold. Turn the lights out and have them shine a torch in their face (like they did in that film the leprechaun!)

That would work. Hard Rock song or classic irish(fiddles etc)?

I'm thinkin Hard Trad Rock.... Even if we don't win it would be original & we'd get a bag of laughs from our european neighbors. :)

lol? Apart from the obvious music elitist undertones of 'real music' (what exactly is 'real music' - I would have thought someone with the talent of Brian Kennedy would fall into that category), you're sorely deluded. Eurovision isnt about music. Its about pantomime.

    • Paul Simon
    • The Who
    • Janis Joplin
    • Marley
    • Beatles
    • Stones
    • etc.

Eurostuff junk music = stuff like
    • Spit on me Britney
    • Spice Girls
    • Daniel O'D
    • Westlife
    • Boyzbandz
    • Robbie Williams
    • etc

Ah so, 'real music' is loosely translated as 'music that i like' and anything else is junk. Glad you cleared that up, thanks.

Don't wear your inanity on your shirt sleeve.

I never said I liked nor disliked that music.

Beethoven, Verdi, Mozart, Mahler would be more in my line.
