    http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx

Downloading now. I tried out the Beta one and was very impressed.

For those of you who say 'OMG, OpenOffice 2.0 is free and its better'

    A) This beta is free ;)
    B) No, its not better. Word, excel etc have an all new GUI that makes things 100 times easier. Those that say MS dosent innovate...well :)

Didn't fill out the "survey" that said "just click cancel if you don't want to fill it out" and bam, error, could not find the page you were looking for. Screw 'em, OpenOffice does the trick.

If you're lucky enough to get as far as the page with the license numbers on then download using the links on that page, the page after that downloads SmartSource download manager - I tried over 20 times and couldn't get past the User Authentication.

i tried for two hours tonight to download this beta. Fecking MS, i'll get the beta as a torrent for it instead tomorrow, at least they're more relibable :)

    From System Requirements
All Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 2 software has an expiration date of February 1st, 2007, at which time the product will operate under reduced functionality mode limiting end-user options and operations.

That's normal for a MS beta product

The downloads aren't coming from MS, they're from Licensed Technologies Group Inc and there servers are probably under a lot of pressure. To download all of the components is over 2.5GB.

I've downloaded all in about 3 hours using FlashGet with no problems

well for a MS product it does the job - allbeit it's not VLC - which is really surprising considering it's still in beta and did i mention it's a microsoft product?

i also couldn't download this tonight, got passed the survey had to verify my email address which i did and selected which version i wanted then bam, server too busy.

    Anyone having problems activating this?

Downloaded this last nite and burned it onto disc.Loaded up and followerd on screen prompts, only I told it to load up along WITH office pro 2003.Then when I opened any of the programs it threw up the activate prompt, went online and activated.Took about 1h 20m to download and 10 mins to install.

Was effortless really.....now playing around with its new features.

BTW, I did not see or do any survey

To change the default xp blue theme to vista grey on do the following
(this changes the theme for all programs in the suite)

    open outlook
    tools
    options
    mail formats
    editor options
change xp blue to vista in drop down box
    press ok

    you like?

only I told it to load up along WITH office pro 2003

Watch out for automatic updates especially if they're for Outlook 2003, I've had a few - most recent was for Outlook 2003 Junk Email filter. Seems if you let these install they screw something up where the next time you run Outlook 2007 it says it's not the default email client. Only way to get round this is to do a system restore.

Downloading now - nice and fast 300k+/sec. Asked me to do a survey, and before that to sign in with my hotmail/passpost details.

Installed fine (didn't have to burn ISO just installed straight no problem)

Looks very cool but its going to take a while to get used tot he new "Ribbon" thing, however I'm sure once you get used to it, it will be much easier for all applications.

    What does everyone elese think?

This is a free beta, but will it stop working after a certain amount of time?

    With reduced functionality

After expiration, 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 will continue to work in a reduced functionality mode that limits your options and operations.

On the Office 2003 download it states

After the trial expires, the software goes into reduced functionality mode. In reduced functionality mode you can continue to view and print files, but you cannot modify existing files or create and save new ones.

So it's probable the reduced functionality of Office 2007 will be the same as Office 2003.

I'm sure it will be cracked by then anyway
