Trying to mix it it up a bit in my tourney play now and accummulating chips a lot better, but. Though I seem to arrive now at the latter stages with a decent stack, I can't seem to back off a hand once I come in, and possibly play too aggressive ( the bravado of the big stack ) ?. It seems like every hand I play at this stage is for a huge pot. Is this a symptom of poor strategy ?.

The hand below is an example, is this really dumb play ?. Any advice on managing a decent stack with 3/4 of the field gone and a big cash tantalisingly close. Flame away please.

No read on villain who recently arrived an has'nt played a hand.

    Table "£15K_MONDAY 2616355 - 7" Seat 2 is the button.

Seat 5: Villain (11310 in chips)
    Seat 6: (8215 in chips)
    Seat 7: (13188 in chips)
Seat 8: Hero (22330 in chips)
    Seat 9: (5500 in chips)
    Seat 10: (8770 in chips)

    Blinds 150 / 300

    dealt to Hero [Ac Qd]
    Hero: raises to 900
    Villain: calls 600

    FLOP (1950) [6d 9d 4d]

    Villain: checks
    Hero: bets 1200
    Villain: calls 1200

    TURN (4350) [6d 9d 4d][2c]

    Villain: checks
    Hero: bets 2700
    Villain: calls 2700

    RIVER (9750) [6d 9d 4d 2c][Kh]

    Villain: bets 1500
Hero: raises to 17505 and is all-in
    Villain: is all-in 4985

    SHOW DOWN

Hero: shows [Ac Qd] (High Card Ace)
Villain: shows [6s 6c] (Three of a kind, Sixes, King high)

You can win some nice pots doing this and it's really satisfying when he folds the river, but most of the time this is just spewing and you should check behind on the turn.

Its hard to judge bluffs because they always seem kind of silly when you get called, a lot depends on the rhythm of the table and the history you have built up with the villain.

On this hand you fired 4 barrells, this should be a very rare occurance. Also on the turn you fired again despite nothing changing, I would almost never do this unless I had a specific reason to (the villain calls a lot of cbs without solid values) and your bluff on the river is brave but kind of crazy, what are you representing? A flopped flush is about all and most people would chk the flop with that.

try checking and folding the odd time, as opposed to betting and pushing

Thanks for your input here you too roundtower.:)

I should rein in on the turn here as you say nothing has changed and flush checks this flop so bluff on the end is more stupid than brave. I often do this kamikase stuff when villain plays it as weak ? as this. Not doubting your advice HJ, but curious if anyone bets the turn here.

No, I check the turn. He usually calls here with one of :

    twopair
    set
    flush
    Ad

He will not fold these on the turn.

Snapper what on earth are you doing in this hand?

When he called the turn your river bet is absolute suicide, lol

    Nice try though :D
