Double Bed: Where do you sleep?

So folks, imagining your on your own and you're sleeping in your double bed.. do you sleep to one side? Do you have a "side" if you usually share your bed?

Personally I just sleep right in the middle, unless sharing the bed. I've never had to have a "side" and I find the notion odd though I understand why one would choose one, I guess. Like, which side is better?!

We never really "chose" sides.. It just ended up with him on one side on me on the other!

in the middle! and if sharing I don't care what side, unless the bed is next to the wall and then I sleep on the outside (if I'm allowed to!)

If the bed is up against a wall I sleep on the side closest to the wall, if it's in the middle of the room I sleep on whichever side seems to have less space surrounding it. I like to feel closed in. If I'm sharing I do the same.

When I am sharing a bed I am normally on the right, on my own, em, I usually just pick a bit of the bed and stay there all night, I don't move around much when I sleep.

The worst feeling in the world's when you're juuuust abput to fall asleep and they move.
I've never slept in a double bed with a fella it's always been a single :eek:

I'm restricted to the left side, although I find most nights she encroaches on to my side leaving me with a few inches. Are all Woman so selfish when it comes to bed space. I sometimes get up because I'm nearly on the floor anyway and when I go back she's doing the diaganol thing.What's that about?

somethin i noticed a lot when i was younger with my own parents and mates parents is that when you stand at the bottom of the bed looking towards the pillows at the opposite end, the mother was on the right and dad on the left. odd but ive seen it in loads of places.

me personally i prefer to be against the wall and if its in the middle of the room i dont care once i have lots of space to myself. cant sleep with someone too near.

Ok this bit was left unlear by the OP. Are you saying you sleep on the left from the POV that you're lying down in the bed or looking at the bed from the bottom of it?

If from the POV of lying down I always sleep on the right, always have in all of my beds, I can't sleep any other way...unless I've been drinking

I sleep all over the bed when alone, and it changes whenever the fella stays over. But he has a side in his place, which got me wondering... and thread startin'.

indeed.
any time i have a woman in the bed, she insists on the inside (the bed is beside the wall) and i end up being slowly edged out and just give up and sleep in one of the other rooms or on the couch.

I will never share a bed with anyone, because I keep moving. All night, constantly. I cant stop. I'll stay in one position for about 2mins and then move around again. So much so that people who have slept in the same room as me have been constantly woken up by it!

Plus I like having a whole double bed to myself. Pity my grandparents are using it now since their house is banjaxed and I've been forced into the single, spare bed . With Dublin's house prices I don't think they'll ever leave, and I'll never get it back

I do it too. No matter where I am, home, hotel, etc. It's not something I ever conciously decide but it happens every time. My dad does too but grandfather didn't.

I've also heard that women prefer to sleep nearest the window for some reason that I can't remember at the moment.

Mine is complicated. I don't live with my other half. The double bed in my room has two pillows. Both in the middle. I sleep in the middle, constantly. When I'm with her, I sleep closest the door, unless the bed is against the wall, in which case I sleep against the wall because she feels trapped, whereas I love sleeping against the wall.

I can no longer sleep in single beds. I constantly find my legs falling over the edges.

Assuming nobody else is also using my bed, I sleep diagonally. Being a rather large double bed, this gives me unprecedented amounts of sleeping space. Which is nice.

Well, right for me on my own. Always. In a single bed i would tend to get out on the left side though.
Two people, it is me on the right or she has to sleep on top or below, I'm not budging. Ok, more accurately, if she is strong willed, whereever the **** she wants me to/wherever I end up.
Then again, I have never had a double bed so its always been their call.
Single bed, I'm on the outside, ie away from the wall.


EDIT: I fear for the diagonal peoples sanity.

On the left but on the right if I'm on early's. Used to be nearest the door but since the furniture got moved around I'm now normally away from the door. She isn't pleased because she says there is a draught from the door but she arranged the furniture and she won't move. I guess that means its my fault:rolleyes:

Well when I lived in my Mam's when I actually had a double bed to sleep in I used to sleep in the middle. Soooooo much space. Only have a single bed now and even though I've been here for over a year I hate it.

I'm a very light sleeper and my room is at the top of a spiral stair case... I'd be awake from the moment the killer sets foot on the first step..

Of course I'm on holiday at the moment in a fancy hotel... so it's all chaos now..

But the pillows are so soft like marshmallows...

Actually, that reminds me... I once had a dream I ate my pillow and when I woke up my giant marshmallow was gone.
