    Hi everyone,

Anyone know where to get budvar on tap (not bottle) *anywhere* in Dublin? Or elsewhere, for that matter???

    Cheers,
    JM.

Thomas Reids on parliament street will take care of your Budvar needs. Pricey, though....

If I recall correcty it cost about 5.50ish. They do serve it in a nice glass though, which I invariably nick to compensate for the excessive price.....

Thanks everyone - this is a lovly beer on tap IMHO. First had it in the Czech Republic and have fond memories. Have seen it here now in bottle (probably due to the foreign workers etc...) but all beers are better on tap imho.

Not always true, Weizen being a prime example. Problem with kegs is they must have a run on them, if the beer stands in lines too long it gets bad, this wont happen in bottles. Pils does not normally suffer from bottling in fact it is a guarantee of a certain standard that a keg cant guarantee, a well looked after kegbeer is a different story though.

Dunphy's pub on lower georges street , Dun laoghaire, has both Budvar and Lech (Polish lager) on tap.

Both are lovely to drink but I prefer Lech.

Both are very popular in this pub so you are guaranteed a nice cold pint!
I think Lech is about €4.50 a pint, and the Budvar is €5.00. (considering most pubs charge €5.00 for the bottle that isn't too bad.)

Just FYI - Pravda's don't do it on tap anymore. I'll check Thomas Reid's this weekend.

Had it recently in The Globe and The Market Bar, both on George's Street. If I remember correctly Dakota on Sth. William St. has it too.

Quality beer but Jesus my head hurt the next day! The German brews are your only man for avoiding that killer hangover. That and, umm drinking less of it...

yeah - Erdinger is a prime example. Common enough on tap in Dublin, but if i don't think its getting much use - I'll just revert to trusty old bottle - never lets you down.

I only saw weizen on tap twice in Germany in my six or so years working in the hospitality industry, mostly as a waiter but sometimes as a barman and others as a commis.
It just isn't the done thing to keg up a weizen.

<edit> not saying it's not common in the South maybe it is but up North it was all bottles. But then it is more pils county up North anyway that could be a contributing factor.

Just an FYI - budvar on tap in the Globe (South Georges St). It's a big white tap in the middle of the counter. €5 for a pint, nice glasses too ;-)

    ---SUMMARY---
Pravda - no tap just bottle now
Tomas Reids - no tap just bottle now
    Globe - yes, yes.

Happy at last. Thanks to those who helped.
