    hey.

I went and sold my windows laptop and got a powermac g5 [1.8 single] there about 7 months ago, coz I was finding my laptop an ergenomic disaster. Im still weary of laptops.

Anyways, turns out I could do with something more mobile, but Id like to stick with a mac, obviously;)
So I was thinkin of maybe a swap for an imac, or selling the g5 and screen and gettin a macbook. [then later gettin a seperate keyboard for the sake of my back]

Anyways, what kinda cash you reckon Id get for my powermac? [1.8 single, 512 ram] Ive got a 19" flatscreen.. The mac I bought for 1100 before xmas and the monitor was 320.

So- the G5 including 19" flat screen- 800/900? optimistic?

Also, what if I found someone who would like to swap it for a g5 imac? think thats a fair trade?
My friend has a g5 imac, 1.9 I think, but it never seems to perform as well as my powermac. I dont get why that is, Im not very technical. He just says its coz mines a powermac.

Cheers for any advice on this. I have a feeling the introduction of those supercool macbooks is gonna cause quite a freak out over the next few months.

I know this isn't relevant but why is the title of the thread "g5 powermac- got milk?"

What has a G5 Powermac got to do with milk???

I think a Powermac for iMac is a fair enough trade. Also €800-€900 would be a decent price for your Powermac (Then again I've never bought second hand so i wouldn't really know).

If your looking for something mobile I wouldn't nesessarily say the iMac is mobile, it's more mobile than the Powermac but the are pretty big and heavy all the same.

If I was changing my mac i'd strongly consider buying an Intel mac

Thanks for the reply Nature Boy.

Ill be selling the mac, hopefully in the coming couple of weeks. Ive decided to add some cash to it and get a macbook. Im worried that Ill miss the 7200rpm hard drive and the superdrive, but I do need something portable.

Im putting it up for sale in the new for sale section now, just the mac, without the monitor, if anyone is interested, for a very reasonable price.
