Yes folks, I am so clearly lacking in imagination (excessive downloading of pron will rot your brain) that I need suggestions on what to download while I continue to pay extortionate fees to eircom for 3mb connection for a short while longer. I have fallen into such a malaise with my connection being vastly underused that I went so far as to download the awful 'Firewall' movie rip, just to have something to download.
Therefore I put it to unwashed masses to enlighten myself and perhaps their fellow 'boardies' some interesting things to download, it can be anything you feel is worthwhile.

    Wait..

    Wait...

    Ok go!

Right, OP, asking for people to point you towards illegal downloads, and the discussing of such, is a very big no-no in this forum. Please read the charter before posting here thanks.

I recommend downloading a few linux distros. That'll eat up your bandwidth for a while at least. :)

Inspired to check my connection stats at 5.38 am after reading your post.I'm allowed 20456 MB per month and have used 14% this month so far. The most I ever used was 56%, but for some reason my allowance was only 4096 back in January 0'6. I have absolutly no idea why I have been given 16000 more thingys per month when the 4096 was doing nicley thank you.
This has been brought to you by an over tired fat bloke who had a nightmare.
I'll be on my way.Oh and it's my Birthday, all cream cakes greatfully recieved.

Where exactly does one get such bandwith? And how does one go about checking one's usage and allowance!?

    OP - try www.ad-aware.com - i'm sure you'll need it

One pays eircom and clicks on eircoms homepage, then clicks support, inserts phone number and account details in box provided.

if you like games and have a sense of humour, you should definitely grab every episode of consolevania.

pure pwnage can be amusing as well

(they're both freely downloadable shows btw)

Go to SnapFiles.com, then the freeware section and download all the lovely free tools there. All nicely rated from 1-5 stars by the staff at snapfiles and also the users :D

Lots of cool little apps from anti-spyware, to video editing, multimedia tools, networking, programming....the list is (almost) endless!

Should keep you busy for a while :D

You know he didn't actually ask for anything illegal whatsoever. He admitted to himself having previously downloaded something illegal, that's all.
Anyway, I wouldn't know what to tell you to download, with my feeble 56k connection. Boo-urns to eircom in general.

Get on fileplanet or something like that and download some benchmark programs. Kind of fun when you get really bored.

This is a good idea for a thread.
I too found myself sitting staring at google.ie last week.
I've played far too much Battlefield over the last year and now im sick of it.
I dont remember what I used to do before BF2.
    Paint soldiers maybe?

    Anyway keep the suggestion coming.

I'll chip in with some :

PPstream program - can watch various asian channels over the web such as prem league matches etc. There is usually a schedule floating around in advance before the games.
Heres a link to add to favorites
    http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&u=http://www.ppstream.com/tv/frame.htm

Avast! antivirus software - found it decent for the long trial period I had it for.Got rid of norton.

One of my favourite sites is www.somethingawful.com hilarious some of the stuff on there.
