I'm also freaking out, although it's not finals that I have, and they don't start til Wednesday, so I won't try to grab any limelight for myself.

I'm fine now, spent today studying business (which I actually understand) so I'm on a momentary "I can do this" kick, complete with 80s power music playing in the background (only in my head, sadly), but give me 'til Friday (the day before Economics) and I'll be all twitchy and moody and freaking again. Fun times.

starting on tuesday. high on caffeine and nicotine right now. getting up at some ridiculous time tomorrow to try and do the entire biology2 course. I THINK ITS DO-ABLE OK. eep!

I'm still comfortably numb about the whole finals thing. However I'm finding that little things are annoying me a lot more than they should - when I couldn't find a copy of a book that I needed today (despite the fact that there's meant to be two copies of it in Counter Reserve...grrr...) I got a lot more stressed than I usually would. And the thin walls in Rubrics mean that I can hear the guy next door laughing. All the time. Man, there must be some hilarious **** going on in his room, but I'm about this close to going in there and punching him if he doesn't shut up.

Otherwise grand though. Good luck everyone!

Hrmm finals, no i'm still happily in denial as lots of people have gotten very very stressed around me.... was funny looking at everyone sitting outside the library tis morning cramming.....(though in saying that i was already in 3 hours at that point). And i wasn't the only one in at 6 tis morning which is rather unusual....and was loads in by 8...hrmm... pressure?

I was in town by 7, had a breakfast in take 5, in the 24 hour reading room by half 7 and in the library at opening by 9.

I havent been in this early to college in months, let alone the library.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 65 ✭✭fookchooknooris

take 5 is class. i finished my exam. i spent probably more time answering my question then i did asleep last night. think i'll go to take5 for lunch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

I always go to take 5 if i'm in college before 8 o'clock. Normally can't eat in the mornings so their small breakfast keeps me going for a few hours no problem :)

    AS_REQ:
Authentication service request, this is sent by the client to the KDC(Key Distribution Centre, also known in the documenation as the Authentication Server). In Kerberos v.4 this contains a request for a Ticket Granting Ticket for the user(TGT) ,In V5 proof of possession is included in the the AS_REQ, which is a timestamp encrypted by the clients master key.

    AS_REP:
The AS_REP is composed of the TGT is accompanied by a session key S_c which is encrypted by the clients master key. The TGT is encryped by the servers master key and contains the clients session key S_c , and expiry time and some other flags(e.g proxiable, renewable, postdated). The Client is assumed authenticated in V4 if it can decrypt the session key.(V5 will already have been authenticated by the POP part of the AS_REQ).

At this point the client can forget its master key(i.e. the principals workstation), and just use the session key S_c and the TGT in future requests.

    TGS_REQ:
This is a request from the client to the KDC so it can perform mutual authentication with another principal. This request contains the name of the other principal the client wishes to communicate with, the TGT and an authenticator(a timestamp encrypted with the session key S_c).

    TGS_REP:
The KDC decrypts the TGT, checks its validity, and also checks the timestamp is valid to check for a replay attack. If these are valid the KDC constructs a new session key for the 2 principals to share, K_ab. It sends this encrypted with the users session key S_c and also in the form of a 'ticket for service'. The 'ticket for service' is encrypted with the other principals master key, it contains the name of the first principal the client, an expiry time and the new session key K_ab.

    AP_REQ:
The client sends the service an authenticator(timestamp encrypted with the session key K_ab) and the 'ticket for service'.The service uses its master key to decrypt the 'ticket for service' , checks the validity of the ticket, if its valid it assumes anyone in posession of the session key K_ab is speaking on behalf of the client. It then decrypts the authenticator and checks the timestamp is within an allowable time skew, if it is it add's one to the timestamp , encrypts it with the session key K_ab and sends it back to the client. They client and service have now mutually authenticated as the client knows only the service should be able to create the packet encrypted with the session key of the timestamp it sent +1.

As a general query, has anyone noticed any of their exam locations to:

    (i) Too cold? or
    (ii) Have weak lighting?

If so, post them up here. Even if it is somewhere some else said it, post it up on which day you thought it was too cold.

    Dónal.

    Cheers, will check it out.

I'm told that coats are allowed in the RDS, but there might have been some issue with not being allowed to wear them by one or two invigilators which I'll get on to.

Temp in the RDS seemed grand today, by the way (between 20 - 22 degrees celcius). Lighting wasn't perfect though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

RDS was fine on temp today - i mean for somewhere that size you're not gonna get much better. Lighting wasn't too bad i thought.

What about noise? There was a weird humming for the second half of my exam yesterday. Although I will point out that it might have been just me as my ears are a bit ****ed lately.

That's maths would you believe, final year anyway.

well couldn't a final year maths student be doing computery/physics stuff.

    2+2= 4 is maths.
    smpt protocol is computers.

    In my opinion anyway.

The subject is still maths, just as I do spectroscopy which could be sorta chemistry like. Or geophysics, or quantum which is mathsy. It's all still under the blanket of physics though. Or you could be doing some ecology or I remember you doing some sort of socio-geography kinda thing in particular in the hammo one day.

Ian doesn't do electronics/cs/physics, he does maths

Ok. I study Zoology. I take A Genetics module. If I posted up a genetics sample answer. Would you call it a ZOology sample answer?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 65 ✭✭fookchooknooris

And what about stats. I certainly don't do maths. Would stats become zoology or ecology?

Methinks somebody should try their best to be as easy-going and unargumentative as possible, lest they draw attention to themselves.

Edit: Biology paper I tomorrow. cramcramcramcram cramcramcramcram cramcramcramcram cramcramcramcram cramcramcramcram, diddleuhdoo-dodoo!

Oh god. There's so much to do. And I can't remember if I can remember all the stuff I revised earlier in the week. Hox gene? What's that? I only spent an hour reading it through thoroughly. Now it's a distant memory. God DAMN.

No sleep and too much caffeine makes ronan something something.

Don't just read, write the main points down and when you've done that, write them out again!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,579 ✭✭✭Pet

And the cramming continues. I've been up since 8am this morning. I realised that if I get over 50% in my written exams in Geography/Geology, I can get a 2.1 overall based on the assessments I did throughout the year. And seeing as I barely passed biology (if even) and will fail chemistry tomorrow (not being dramatic, I've done absolutely nothing for it, and I'm completely fine with repeating it in Sept), it'll be nice to have at least one good mark in a full subject (a I in maths methods doesn't really count).
