Ok did a search but couldn't find an answer to this

I'm trying to get my DS hooked up to my Eircom Broadband with no joy

I'm using the standard eircom Netopia router, and I try to connect but I'm getting the 5200 error code

The Ninty wifi site doesn't help much, so have any of you got this up and running? If so, how?

That router has a lot of issues with the DS.

Search here think theres a way around it.

Tried a few different options, in the end I just replaced the modem with a supported one.

I'd do that, but it works just dandy with xbox live, so I don't want to go through the annoyance of setting that up again with a different modem

I have 2 DS going tru a linksys wireless router and then tru the standard Netopia router (it is not a wireless Netopia). Mind you I have issues with trying to get both DSs connecting. I posted this problem before on the boards.

The work around we did was to diasble the DHCP on the eircom router and use static ips on any machine on our lan including the DS. Occasionally one of the DS gives trouble and strangely the solution the kids discovered was to switch IPs between the two DS and both would then connect with no problem.

However, this has to be done on an ongoing basis as the problem reoccurs every few weeks.

The Netopia roueter Eircom use HATES the DS. It is possible to connect the DS with it but for Mario Kart the connection only lasts excatly 10 minutes, with Animal Crossing the game freezes when someone tries to enter your town or when you try to enter someone elses, don't know who it effects other games but i'm sure its not gonna be good.

I ditched the Netopia and went to PC World and got a Belkin F5D7632-4 (cost only 100euro) was easy to set up and works fine with all my DS games (MK, LostMagic, MPH), i actually don't think its even on Nintendos compatability list, but then again the NoE site is just a copy and paste of the NoA one and most of the ones on that list either can't be found here or are too expensive

the netpoia is working fine with metroid prime hunters.

    not freezing at all.

    unlike mario kart!

wow thats a miricle, i would have thought if it couldn't handle MK and AC:WW how the hell could MPH?

But i still say get a new router, unless you only ever plan to get MPH that is....

I reckon its eircom being pissed cuz Nintendo are partners with BT for hotspots and such so they provide people with a pretty much usless router is they wanna use a DS online

Please don't credit Eircom with that much intelligence, I believe the explanation is that they found the cheapest wireless router they couldbundle with their connections and went with that.
