backpacking in france

Me an a frien are going backpacking in france for the month of june . I was wondering if anyone knows of any good music festivals , campsites , beaches etc . We want to stay clear of touristy places and of big expensive ciries like paris ,off the beaten track more like .

Where is Parignan? Looks lovely.

I'd recommend Languedoc-Roussillon. Carcassonne, Narbonne towards Montpellier. All beautiful parts of France and you're guaranteed good weather too. Maybe think about taking the route along the old Canal Du Midi, ever so slightly off the beaten track but enough amentities to sustain the boat people. If based in Dublin, you could fly into Carcassonne or Montpellier or Perpignan and take it from there. Bon voyage!
