Hi, does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
My usb flash drive and also my card reader all of a sudden stoped being recognised by the system. Either device doesent show up in my computer and when i plug them in instead of the usual indicator beep i hear two sequential beeps. The L.E.D on both devices flash up indicating it isnt a hardware issue(i hope) I have tried using other devices and to no avail. Probably will have to reinstall the generic usb driver but i have used sfc /scannow also to no avail.
    Any help appreciated:)

    Right il take a shot!

So you have tried this in the other usb ports on your comp am i right?

If your sure its not a hardware issue, have you changed anything on your system recently?

    2 ways around this:

    1. Use system restore and revert your computer back to its previous state. (If they were working recently and just suddenly died for no reason)

    2. You could re-install the whole universal serial bus.

Do this by going right-clicking on My Computer.
Go to hardware tab then device manager.
Scroll down til you find universal serial bus.
There right click the usb port and select update driver. Insert xp disk.

(If this does not work then uninstall the driver first by right-clicking on it "Uninstall" then let winddows find it and configure itself)

Hope this is of some use! :)

Umm yeah but if this is a sudden issue and nothing was changed it could be something more? You will find the driver on the manufac site, just google it.

what make of card reader is it? MS updates recently released an updated driver which cause mine to stop working (genesys 8 in 1). I rolled the drive back to the previous version and off it went happy out again. I'm on XP btw.
