How to soften New boots

    Hi folks,

I bought a new pair of Oxtar Matrix 2 boots last week but there is no sign of them softening out yet and it's causing me problems with the gear (up) change. The sole/back of the boot is so stiff that I'm having trouble when I try flick up the gear lever with my toe (no flexibility in toes).

Does anyone have any top tips to soften them out ?

    Cheers.

Walk around your house in the for the day and they'll loosen up. I did this with my AlpineStars when I got them and it worked a treat.

I bought a lovely pair of boots and walked around the house in them for about 6 hours. They weren't perfect, but after about 3 days on the bike, they had softened up enough. You'll sweat a bit but they're real comfy anyway.

You shouldn't have to bend your ankle up very much to change up. If the gear lever is on a splined shaft, try loosening the pinch bolt, removing the lever and replacing it one notch lower. If it's attached to a linkage, there's usually an adjuster somewhere.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
