Good stuff. Interestingly the majority of them are United supporters. The game had nothing to do with them yet I suppose it goes to show us what some of their fans are like

im sure had utd been playing barca you would have been supporting the latter ;)

even from a neutral perspective, you couldnt not want the best footballing side in europe to win. we've seen too many flukes the past few years and it's about time the best side in europe became the champions of europe.

tbh, that's why i was supporting barca 1st and foremost. plus the fact that if they won they'd be doing celtic a favour, plus the fact that yes, arsenal are our bitter enemies. :D

this place is like a zero-tolerence robocop at times, step outta line and you're 'disposed off' immediately. we should have a mod free day for a laugh and see what happens :D it would be football365.

i'm sure someone is going to ask, so i might aswell go ahead and be the first.... who are the flukes ur talking about? liverpool and porto? or man u who royally fluked bayern?

the mods here are really lenient tbh, much more so than any other forum i frequent. we should all count ourselves super lucky to have the guys we have ;)

guess its also cause the clientelle in here are a bit more mature too :) well, apart from PHB :p:p

I'd say, him being a Utd. fan, that he'd be talking of 'Pool and Porto, but that could just be a wild guess. Best not to let that line of thread to continue though seeing as this is a bannings thread. On topic tbh :)

The bannings seemed mostly deserved, but it did seem that a few others could have been banned, Gandalf being one of them.

correct. utd fluked the final, i dont argue that, they were lucky. but they played their way to it and earned a place in the final. the difference between a real winner and a flukey one is that the real winners you know will challenge the following season.

i said straight away when they won (both porto and liverpool), they would fail to retain the trophy. you can't say that about barca nor could you say it about utd in '99.

i'm not getting into one of these bullsh/t conversations, for the sake my own brain and everyone else's face's being sick of looking at liverpool/united crap.

nobody will be retaining the champions league anytime soon imo.

its impossible to fluke winning the champions league, impossible. anything can happen in a final the better team can lose, but you cant fluke getting there, if you think liverpool or porto fluked anything, you go ahead and do that.

Yes you could. They failed to retain it, so of course you could say it. What flakey logic.

I agree with this. Liverpool got very lucky in the final but they werent lucky getting there, they deserved to be there. Porto deserved to win it too although they had an easier route to winning it than most.

I'd say it's more flukey to win it through penalties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,731 ✭✭✭el rabitos

i wouldnt. id say if your players cant score from 12 yards then tough luck.

if you got to the final, you deserve to win it, to a certain degree. theres no * beside liverpool or ac milans name on the trophy to point out they both won it recently on peno's

Missed that thread and couldnt be arsed reading through it now. But in fairness something like this has been coming. Id love to say its since access procedure changed but the more experienced users are the ones banned.

I have noticed lately that there is a lack of respect for peoples opinions. I love talking football with others but its getting harder in here, seems to be the norm now that people take their opinion as fact and everyone elses is lunacy.

Im not directing this at the people banned, its just an observation of the forum.

I wouldnt say that. The best players in the world can miss penalties when under so much pressure. I dont like to see games decided on penalties as its basically a lottery and a very unfair way of deciding a match especially a cup final but I understand that there are no other alternatives at the moment

but thats just what it comes down to in the end, "luck".

you can't say that about barca nor could you say it about utd in '99.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

However, well we don't know about barca, but if I were a betting man, I would bet on them not doing it. It has not been done since the great Milan side of 89 and 90.

With regards to utd they did not win it in 98 or 00, therefore they did not win it back to back and didn't seem to challenge more than Porto or Liverpool.

Who would want the life of a pundit?;)
