    What year?
They're a solid enough little car. economical enough.

Are you going after a standard one? Try to avoid one with induction kits/aftermarket exhausts as they really effect MPG on the 1.3's (Any car for that matter)

I've a 1.3L 1998 Mirage (which is basically a Colt in coupe form) and it's never given me any trouble so far. About 35 quid (at current prices) fills it for the week and that's with a daily trip to and from Navan.

Can't go too far wrong with anything Japanese really.

No electric Windows on the Irish cars, other than that never heard a bad word said about them, nice nippy and relibable cars.

Yeah saw that when I went to see one last night.. Looked like it had been broken into at some stage as well.. Didn't bother looking at it any further when I saw that... Still on the look out though

I have a '98 1.3 gl and it's given me nothing but trouble for the 2 years i've had it.

I've pumped hundreds of euro into repairing it - distributor cap replacement, new battery, timing belt, 6 sets of spark plugs, new front lamp (of which the new one is still taking in water), and it still gives me trouble.

that's just me though, my friend had a '94 model for years and never had any trouble with it.

    Thats more like maintenance.

Timing belt, spark plugs and batteries have to be changed in nearly every car at some point, as do light bulbs.

No, it breaks down roughly every 3 months. even at the moment it coughs into action in the mornings, and i just had it looked at this weekend by a mechanic who said the engine is on the way out.

the car has relatively low mileage for its age and i'm it's 2nd owner.
