Any recommendations of what id like

Basically i love C&C games any of them are just amazing! wish they brought one out every 6 months

But anyway apart from that i used to love the dungeon keepers aswell

Im not big into gaming but would love a game like the above to mess around with, i didnt like warcraft 3 at all and don't know what to try next, was looking at the game Rome that won the poll and it doesnt look like what im after.

Also i see everywhere patches and expansion packs for C&C , are these mainly for online gamers to expand maps or would they be good for one player aswell? If so any recommendations with that.

Ive just got star craft and going to give that a shot when im bored ... had a look at age of empire 3 there on ign and it looks good but looks a bit like war craft 3

If you want a multiplayer RTS you want either Age of Empires 2 or Starcraft. If you a great single player campaign I would say Rome Total War (with the Rome Total Realism mod), but R:TW is a pretty complicated game so for a pick up and play RTS you should look elsewhere, Warcraft3: The Frozen Throne had an excellent single player campaign, all the WC3 campaigns were excellent actually, but cant be helped if you dont like the WC3 gameplay. Total ANnihilation is another RTS worthy of mention, havent played the campaign in it, but the AI is pretty decent for skirmish or LAN play and its darn good fun, and theres a unit pack you can get that gives the game a total of around 500 units, not bad for a game with only 2 teams, been playing it the last few days over LAN with a few m8s, brilliant fun.

If you are looking for something that is similar to C & C Generals, the most recent C&C game, then I would take a look at Act of War: http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/565416/Act_Of_War_Direct_Action/Product.html

It's a very good game, not quite as good as Generals but definitely along the same lines.

As for expansion packs, if it is C&C Generals you are playing, then I would whole-heartedly recommend the Zero Hour expansion pack: http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/135826/-/Product.html?searchstring=zero+hour It's fantastic, it adds so much extra content to the original game that the original is impossible to go back to once you've played the expansion. And it's not just for online games, it adds maps, units and General powers for both off and online play.

I would sat Rome is the one to go for. I have been hooked on it for some weeks now its a little tricky to get the hang of but once you have the basics its fanatastic. Be warned managing the empire by the end of the Game is a lot of work.

Empire Earth is great for skirmish. A little weak on single player tho. I'm a big fan of C&C but EE is better IMO.
