Renovations taking place at ungodly hour

    quick hypothetical situation.

Neighbours in a semi D (or possibly terraced house) doing renovations. Starting the work very early in the morning (6.50 to 8.10 kinda start time). Lots of banging, drilling etc.

Obviously an action in nuissance is possible but kinda drastic and assuming exams would be over for people living the house by the 8th june kinda redundant.

Assume they have already been asked to
a)inform the neighbours what the start time will be
    b)not to start too early.
And they gave a committtment not to start before 9 - and the next day were going again @ 8.10.

So in short Im not looking for anyone suggesting talking to them, or nuissance, What i am wondering is if there are any specific legislative provissions for noise etc in a built up area.

    THanks
