    Hi,

Wondering if anyone here has any experience of this scheme. Applying soon with my partner, our income is within the limit. Currently renting in Dublin but from Louth and want to go back there. Anyone know anything about waiting lists, where you can buy etc? Any info appreciated.

    Hi
I was looking to buy a house on my own but was outpriced from the market
I rang louth county council to enquire about the shared ownership scheme .The lady who i spoke to said they were advising people not to take the shared ownership option .
She told me about a new scheme they have called "site for sale".Its for people who would like to build their own house but cannot afford it .Louth County council have secured land in Collon and Clogherhead, it is currently being serviced and due to come available for housing in early 2007.
I got the forms sent out to me , the usual required, income limits, salary statement, evidence of savings etc
They will then assess each applicant on a case to case basis and if suitable will only a sit of land at a very reasonable price, planning permission guaranteed , so no problem to build your own house
It worth a shot , to build your own house with a decent priced bit of land would save you a fortune on taking out your mortgage, it would be more than manageable to pay it back for me on an average wage
Louth county council housing department has all the info
hope it helps you .. nightmare trying to get housing round the North East, house prices like everywhere are gone mental
