I was trying to get a snap that would remind me of busy Spanish cafes and I got this. What do you think?

    cheers

nice idea... buti think the blur went a bit too far, maybe if even one person was fully in focus it'd make a huge difference to the image, nice colours

Cheers. I got the idea from something I saw in a book before where the camera had panned someone moving and they were sharp but the background was blurred. I did that, trying to track the waiter, but I felt really odd pointing the camera at crowd of strangers and only tried two photos. I'll try a few more next time and maybe try and get a bit more of the moving person in the frame.

It was taken at the Plaza Major (sp?) in Madrid on Sunday. It's a big square, probably was the heart of the city at one stage and now it's full of terrace tables and lovely hustle bustle.

When I first saw this, I thought that it would be better (but more difficult to do!) if it was the other way around ... i.e. the waiter(s) motion blurred, and the customers in focus, in other words it's the waiters who are busy and frantic, and the customers who are relaxed and chilled out. Unless you could persuade a whole cafe full of people to stay perfectly still for a few seconds though, I'm not sure how you'd actually mange that though :)

I think it shows the waiter's point of view. Have you ever worked in the service industry? I think the image as it is (or is trying to be :))conveys very well that sense of being run off your feet.

I love it! It really captures the whole cafe scene. I can't wait to get back to Spain and chill with a vinto tinto somewhere just like that!

I like it too - great mix of colours and cool point of view.
