So after my last thread about distortion and all that I've decided to **** that out the window and just upgrade and get a good quality head. Been looknig at this one but as I don't think anywhere in Cork is a registered Laney dealer I can't find one to play. Does anyone have any info on this particular model? Played one before maybe? Cost in Ireland, they are reasonable on Thomann.

I do believe they have Laneys in most of the big shops in Dublin, like Music Maker, Musician Inc and Instrumental, if you were to take a trip that way to try one out. Might be worth a phonecall first before you go up.

The GH100L is only €635 on guitarbargains.com aswell, so might be a bit better than Thomann. Just take a look here.

Anyway, I've not played it, but I know that's the model that Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth uses.

I've got one and it is a savage amp.
I can honestly say it has the best lead tone out of any amps I've played.
I use it over my ENGL Fireball in live situations.
While it has alot of gain it doesn't have the "meatyness" of the Fireball but my rythm guitarist uses a Fireball aswell so they complement each other nicely live.

Basically to sum up:If you wan't to play mostly heavy rythms you'd probably be better off to look for a different amp.But if you are a lead guitarist or aren't looking for complete brutality in an amp the Laney might be for you.

    my rythm guitarist
Is he aware you have a staked a claim in his ownership?
If he becomes available second hand Ill buy him and auction off his amp.

Yeah, I'm playing leads and Rhythm. Maybe I'll check it out though. The ENGL's are pricey out thoguh right because I've been thinking about them too.

the engl's are really worth the dough... just try everything you can in any shop you can.. if you find something that sounds right for you ignore the price and appearance just find your balance..

    try all you can!

I'd say i'll be heading on a trek to dublin so. In between Metallica and GnR but I'll call the shops so they know I'm nt messing about.

Agreed. You really should just trust your ears when buying an amp, nothing else really comes into it.
