I posted this in the audio/video editing forum but its about as cake/pie forum:D

So I was looking at these Behringer MS20 monitors, they look great and they are digital/analog

    What do ye think?

Are the Behringer MS40 worth the extra cash?

P.s Why do some monitors have EQ settings if they are designed not to colour the sound?

    Normally one of two reasons

Reason 1: They're not very good monitors.

Reason 2: You may have to adjust the eq to compensate for room coloration.

Youll most likely do better, more accurate mixes on chepo second hand monitors than on most headphones.

Well if he's got about 600-700 quid handly then yes but he does'nt! And there also passive and i've heard mixed reviews about them!
I think these Emu PM5's wud be very cool to listening to music but wud'nt be very accurate - http://www.zzounds.com/item--EMUPM5 but they look really cool!

Did anyone try the studiospares SN-10's yet? (Yes there suposidly a copy of the ns10's with better bass responce)

For me monitors typify the way we can end up getting so caught up in the latest/best/newest gear. If you are proffesionaly recording alot of live music then good monitors are seriously essential. But even then, only if the music is recorded in isolation from the control area.

If you are using alot of samples or doing standard home recording it's a different story. The most imortant thing here is that you mix the music so that it sounds good on the home systems it will most likely be listened to on. Either way you should listen to as many of your mixes on as many systems as possible and you'll automatically learn what your monitor/amp/room/D-A converters are doing to the music. The one exception to this is modern car stereos, they just confuse matters!
I use passive monitor ones with a Harrison amp. I know it pretty well at this stage and compensate without even thinking about it.
