OK guys. I was working as a manager in retail since I was 18 decided to take a break and recently went for an interview in the local supermarket. I have been told its 2000 less without VHI, Shares and matched pension etc. It is a 3 month probabation thing also. Now I have always wanted to own my own store in retail were as I am stck at my desk in a tidy 9 - 5 job. My head is melted I really dont know what to be doing.

Could you afford to take that cut in wages? I would go for it. If you are good you should be able to move up or negotiate a better wage after some time. You may also be able to make up the difference in overtime or allowances. Nothing more soul destroying than being in a job that you hate. Good luck.

What kind of store would you like to own...?If you are moving jobs now why don't you try and open up your own one as soon as you can.

I was going to suggest that if you got a job with any of the musgraves outfits they eventually set up their best guys with their own stores but I thought that it was ambition that was driving you and now I find that it is having more time off. How dissapointing.
