Ok, here is the story: The game ran fine last week. However, I downloaded the beta version of IE7 (take my advice, and DON'T do that!). Anyway, to cut a long story short, I had to reformat my hard-drive, since my windows files were totally corrupted. When I went to re-install everything (all my games), they all went in no problem, except for Settlers:Heritage of Kings. This game worked fine last week on this same machine! I can't even get the installation program to start. The DVD is apparently reading the disc, since the icon appears if I go to My Computer, and look at the DVD drive (it's a DVD game). If I click on the icon, I get the following message: "E: is not a valid Win32 application", where "E" is my DVD drive. When I try to go in through the back-door, and install it by clicking on the setup icon, it doesn't work either. I have tried the disc in my son's computer, and it works fine. I have downloaded and installed firmware for the drive (it hadn't changed). There IS a bulletin on the Microsoft website, where it tells you to re-assign the different protocols for each drive. I did that too, and THAT didn't work either. My direct X is up to date, as is my video drivers. NOTHING has changed on this machine, except for the fact that the installation is new. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!
