The Moore St. traders, Whats going to happen to them!?

With this new development happening up around Moore St., it means bye bye to the the owl traders up that way. But they are a part of Dublin and old Irish life and i personally think its a bit sad to just get rid of them, they add a bit of character to the place!

So what do you think is the best option for them, the development and the public in general?

If at all possible, the tenants on Moore Street would prefer to stay at their current locations. However, due to a number of reasons, this may not be possible.

    The options available are:

    1. To leave the traders in their current location
    2. Incorporate them into the new Ilica centre thats being built
    3. Move them to a different area within the development.

    1. To leave the traders where they are.
This is the preferred option of the traders. However there is no way the Ilac developer is gonna want them to stay there,as the front area needs to be kept clear in order to draw the public to the centre.

    2. Incorporate traders into the shopping Centre.
It is possible that one area could be designated especially for the traders, however as the Moore St. entrance will be a main entrance to the centre, rents for the premises in entrance area would be very high and thus would be out of the financial reach of the traders.
Maybe put them onto the 2nd floor of the development?

    3. Move traders to different streets?
There are two main areas, which could be considered for this proposal. The first is the side streets and lane areas of Moore Street, which would fall on the route line and present the same customer bases as usual.
The second option is to investigate the use of Parnell St. to O’Connell Street, this would be further away from Moore Street but it would still be on the customer’s route.

i think the option of the side streets of Moore Street would be the best overall option, as it would preserve the life of the traders.

What do you guys think? And we cant just get rid of them alltogether cos they will just keep turning up and setting up stall :D
