As well as all this June sees not only two new monthly nights starting u, but also the return of Wired.
On Friday June 9th, the Volts Sessions start in Eamonn Doran's, while on Thursday June 22nd the beginning of "[at last] Electricity in the Voodoo Lounge" commences. Saturday June 24th has the return of Wired, but in a new home and on a new date - the last Saturday of every month in the BoomBoomRoom.
Not much else left to say...

    THE ADVENTURES
The Adventures (Formerly Pedestrian) were formed out of a mutual desire to make melody driven pop rock. Their fresh sound is based on strong melodies layered with crunchy guitars and perfect indie drumming. Formed in 2004, the band set out to record their first set of songs. This was followed up by a debut performance as part of Dublin venue Whelans, Brave New Stage competition. The Adventures (under the name 'Pedestrian') were chosen as the outright winners. Already the band has received a flood of interest from A & R heads in both Ireland and abroad. With highly aclaimed nationwide shows, a hit single and an album on the way, the band are going from strength to strength. They are currently in post-production for a new single due for release in Ireland and the UK in Spring 2006 Help Yourself, the much anticipated debut single recorded in Grouse Lodge, has been played off the airwaves since its release on September 2005. Award winning DJ, Tom Dunne, a huge fan, has described them as one of the most promising acts in years!

    FAIRLIGHTS

Enda Bates writes, records and performs rock/electronica under the alias Fairlights. His first release, the Deadweight EP, was recorded in 2003 and the debut fairlights album, entitled Scraps, was released on the Alphabet Set label (www.alphabetset.net) in 2005. Fairlights have played numerous gigs around Dublin including the Ballroom of Romance, Lazybird, the King Kong club and the Deaf festival.

    MENDOZA

Mendoza rose out of the ashes of several bands in the summer of 2002 with the aim to create something different to what was orbiting the world of alternative rock as it stood. Their line up by summer 2005 had slimmed to 3 members from the original 5 piece setup and after this Mendoza decided use this opportunity to expand their sound to compensate for the loss of instruments. So with a new member, a retooling of their old material and the introduction of a whole new set of noise operas Mendoza are back tearing up stages everywhere in early 2006, to enthusiastic receptions. Their live show is where the mayhem really takes hold, as www.drop-D.ie say "They’ve built a bit of name for themselves so far, attracting large crowds and some major label attention with their semi-legendary live performances...This band tears it up like so few do these days and they seem to have found a balance between writing good songs and making a different noise to everyone else" Yup, well on their way to global domination and the eventual enslavement of mankind...

    ROBOTNIK

Robotnik is the generic Polish word for a worker. As such, it was used as a title by a number of leftist magazines throughout 19th and 20th centuries -Dr. Ivo Robotnik is the alternative name for Doctor Eggman, main enemy of Sonic the Hedgehog. -RobotNik is the name for a new Irish based Act. -Some would say this is the new BECK dawning.

    SUPER EXTRA BONUS PARTY

Super Extra Bonus Party are a Dublin based Irish music collective and have been writing and performing live in their current line up since November 2005. Comprising of core members Cormac Brady, Mike Donnelly (programming, production, synths, samples, scratching) and Stephen Fahey (bass, guitars, trumpet), the line-up varies to include Rodrigo Teles (Brazilian MC), Sean Corcoran (guitar, production, synths), Gavin Elsted (guitar, drums) and Niall Byrne (visuals, design).

Formerly known as the Illegal Kids in a previous incarnation, Super Extra Bonus Party's is a constantly evolving soundscape of electronic rhythms, bouncy baselines, innovative samples and synths and hard-hitting raw Portuguese rap. Their sound has been described by top Irish music magazine Hot Press as beaty filmic electronica that would please anyone reared on a diet of Kraftwerk and Can. They recently supported Channel One at their single launch show in Whelan's and up and coming Dublin band Noise Control in the Temple Bar Music Centre, as well as taking part in last years Dublin-wide Electric Fix Weekender (www.myspace.com/the_electric_fix), and the highly popular Recipe Club night in Galway (recipeinfo@yahoo.ie).

Under the moniker of Illegal Kids, the band played to packed audiences at the Temple Bar Music Centre during the Still Thinking Records series of gigs in 2004 and already have three releases under their belt; "Its For You", a melodically ambient downbeat collaboration with Dublin singer-songwriter Nina Hynes released on the highly acclaimed Elektra compilation (www.elusiverecordings.com), the wonderfully bubbly and energetic offering "Mushie Shake" released on Wooden Educational, a compilation put together by famed Dublin collective Alphabet Set, and Pitch Black a brooding slice of dark techno and breaks on Stillthinking Records. They recently released a live set on www.alphabetset.net and are currently in between gigging various Dublin venues with I Cant Believe Its Not A Tour and recording their first EP proper with many collaborations including Nina Hynes and amazing Dublin beatbox White Noise.
