I've a total boot sequence failure when i turn on the power. All the components(fans, sound card, gpu, dvd drives, hdd) appear to power up but nothing loads.I cant boot from hdd,my dvd drive or a floppy,i cant even get as far as the bios screen.

I've changed/tested every component i can.i cant seem to find the solution.a friend had a simialar problem and traced it to his ram chips.i've changed mine and its sligtly better(before this hdd wouldn't power up now it does).i'm pretty sure the POST begins, dvd drives/floppy lights flash. But when its time to load windows xp nothing happens.it could be a corrupted bios but it ran ok for the last 5months.i cant even flash the bios cos i need to boot to prompt for that.It could be the motherboard cept i dont have another to test that.

Need some fresh ideas so anyone got any suggestions.

Its a computer i built myself.never had any probs till now.

i got a bit of life out of it last nite. After changing the ram modules the hdd came to life.hdd appeared to have noticed different ram and looked as if it was checking them out.I know this can take awhile(last new ram i put in,it took 45min for boot up).i left the machine running from 10pm last night but at 8am this morning it was till the same.i'm goona leave it running for rest of the weekend and see what happens.

    ram i had installed was 2g drr400 in 1g modules(2).ram i putting in now is older 1g drr333 in 256 modules(4)but i know this set works.the mobo is an Asrock p4v88+
