i installed mce 2005 (it said so in the licence agreement), and when it was finished installing fully, control panel and system tells me its media center edition version 2002 service pack 2

does mce 2002 have the same features as 2005 when you add sp2

TBH honest i never even heard of it until today.

    Judging from this: http://www.salloway.org.uk/mediacenter/2002/freestyle.htm

I would say the EPG may be one advantage as well as the possiblibilty of using extenders.

    ^total guesswork.

I think you are mis-reading it mukki its Windows XP 2002 SP2 but the MCE component is 2005 which isnt displayed in that section.

Are you sure they have to be the same (no experience of this myself) I only ask as this walk-through on setting up dual tuners on Microsoft's site implies that they don't have to be the same and the person in the guide uses an internal & external tuner in the guide ???

A bit of Google-ing also seems to say that dual tuners from different makers are permitted as long as they are MCE compliant but dual tuners from the same manufacturer are considered recommended to avoid any issues.

okay so they dont have to be identical but one of mine is a terrestial analog and the other is a satellite dvb reciever, so sadly i can only use one at a time, i have to retune all the stataions every time i switch

think gbpvr will lte me set satellite bbc1 at 1 and terrestial rte1 as 5 ect so the reception will be the best available oh and playboy one is free to air, woo hoo

Check this out "I think" it might be related to what your trying to do though it has some limitations - Dual Tuner Hacks: using and controlling different TV Card sources.
