    Hi,

I have no sound on my Dell Dimension 5000, speakers that came with it stopped working so I bought new ones in argos today, hooked them up to the pc but still have no sound. Checked the sounds and audio devices in the control panel and it says they are all working properly, and volume is not muted

I have absolutely no idea what to do now.....any suggestions....my head is wrecked

Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers?

Did an installation CD come with the new speakers?

Could the sound card be loose / damaged?

Have you selected "Digital Output Only" from the Advanced options on the Play Control?

If you plug the new speakers into your stereo headphone jack and get sound they're going to be analog. Otherwise they're most likely digital.

So, once you know that, enable/disable digital output.

If you don't see the "Advanced" button like Chucky said, you need to goto "Options" and tick "Advanced contols"
