check the hardrives ,cdrom, dvd , are the jumpers on right, set drive c,as master,on ide 1, dvd, as master,on ide second cable, disconnect the other cdrom, drives, take antistatic precautions, take out esbplug pc,from wall, before, doing anything, sounds like you have conflict between,cd,or dvd,or hardrive,.leave off pc case ,till problem solved, reboot pc.go in to bios, set all hd,cd drives on autodetect mode.drive c: ,drive 0, 1st in boot order, disable floppy drive.a: .it may be looking for cdrom,or floppy drive, which is wrongly jumpered,or has a loose ide cable.make sure ide cables, are in tight to motherboard, and hd cdrom interfaces. The red stripe on ide ,hd,cdrom is always set right next to power cable, are power cables in drives plugged in all the way.

WHAT IS A STAT DRIVE?try booting up pc, with all cdrom, dvd drives disconnected, from ide cables, does it load up win xp.IF a cdrom,or hd is faulty it will stop pc from loading.cause a hard reset.

I assume he meant SATA drive and therefore has nothing to do with slave/master cabling errors. Gamer - please please please try structuring your sentences a little better. I'm normally not one to care about the structure of other people's posts but your's take the piss. Sorry but its a seriously lazy way to give advice...

To the OP - when you say a few seconds do the diagnositc lights on the LanParty (near the power switch connectors) have a chance to light up? They indicate the stage at which the BIOS is at while booting.

I'll admit that it sounds like your PSU is the problem but it could also be anything plugged into any I/O port - mayeb even your graphics card since its on of the the first things to become active after the Mobo itself...

If the machine cuts out after a few seconds I would have a look at how the CPU heatsink is seated! Take it off and clean the old thermic paste. Lightly smear new paste on the CPU and reseat the heatsink.

My pc used to knock off after 3 mins, cos the cpu fan was not working.I just replaced the fan, with one of the same size.Take off case ,are all the fans ,coming on at full speed, if theres a cable on fan or ontop , it will not start up,at all.

The diagnostick lights are your best bet, 4 is cpu, 3 is ram, not sure what the rest are. My ram was faulty and this kept happening to me on the same board.

If not try the usual, check to make sure there are no shorts from the case, clear cmos. You could have fried either the ram or cpu with a static charge.

krazy_8s suggestion of a short through the case seems a good one considering it works without the case..

Check too that the grill for the mobo (the panel where all the port protrude for connections) to match the case hasn't got any flexable bits sticking into any of the network or USB ports that could be causing the short..

I'm assuming you have a stacker since I sold you a part, so on my stacker I have to be really carefull on the mount of the motherboard or it shorts. I think one of the bottom fixings is a bit off on it.

Sry means dis-assembleing water loop and thats a big headache.
First Check each riser to see if it is screwed in properly and not at a angle. Then place case flat on its side and gently drop the motherboard on the risers. Put in each screw in but dont tighten, then try to line all the screws up exactly to their centre, then lightly tighten and try it.

Ok do a minimal build but leave it in the case.

Disconnect all optical drives, hdds and use one stick of ram.

Connect the keyboard, and boot up and load optomized defaults.

Also try the keyboard in the mouse's PS2 port

They were mixed up on my DFI ultra infinity......

buy 10/ 20 gig hard drive from boards.ie/for sale ,get windows installed .then you can set hd as a slave do SMART diagnostics etc and get pc up and running.GET an ordinary. ide hd with cable, easy to set up,installs winxp, in 40 minutes.go to bios, set autodetect hard drive .0, 1, 2 ,3 ,is Autodetect at at present. There should be no tinfoil in any pc,it can short out mobo or harddrive pcb, components.
