I am looking for people to test a datamining application for the Tribeca network. I can offer you free use of the application for a month in return for some feedback, suggestions, bug reports etc.

This program will watch open Tribeca tables and store the hands for analysis by PT. I'm looking for both Holdem and Omaha testers.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Beta testing has been completed sucessfully and Gold Mine is now available - see my signature.

wow nice work Mr Flibble. I havent downloaded it yet but if it does what it says then this could be invaluable!I was just wondering is this your own product? Also have you advertised it elsewhere, i.e. would other Tribeca users know about this apart from those on boards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,364 ✭✭✭Mr. Flibble

Another boards member did the coding, I'm on the design & selling detail.

As of yet not many people know about it. There is a thread here and one on 2+2 (Software fourm :( not many people there). I'll put on on the PT forums tomorrow. I tried spamming the HSNL tables briefly before getting chat banned :D

I've used it for the last 2 months and the difference it makes is amazing (for my game at least). Its nice to sit down with someone you've never played before and have 600 hands on them saying they PF raise 3% of the time or their postflop aggression is 4.5 and check call your whole stack to their bluffs.

Coupled with the summary feature in Poker Tracker it is a great to find the big fish out there.

Whats Tribeca and their skins attitude to this? I thought datamining was a no-no

Small thing on the name, Goldmine is very popular CRM/Sales package...just in case you go global...:D

    1. Delete the following folder: C:\Program Files\Gold Mine
    2. Delete the folder "Gold Mine" from your Start Menu (right click on it for a menu with the option "Delete").

    That's it!

Optionally also delete the generated html-files (don't know why they are .html, they really are text files).

Yeah I thought thats what Id have to do. Is that all that the add/remove thing in the control panel does?

And just out of curiosity, does anyone know how handgrabber works?

Are you referring to handgrabber for Pacific poker or Gold Mine?
I haven't asked Tribeca what they think of datamining.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 578 ✭✭✭wayfarer

I was talking about handgrabber for pacific. I can see how gold mine works and was even thinking of writing a script like this when I finished my exams, but I just cant figure out where handgrabber gets its hand histories.

Its written for cash games but should work for SnGs / MTTs also. Bear the following in mind though:

    - Gold Mine is written for datamining, and as such, is not useable while playing. Well, unless you use two computers, since datamining does not require you to log in and thus you could a second computer for Gold Mine.
    - To datamine STTs (other people not you) simply open them up and start Gold Mine. However, as I meantioned, this has not been tested.
    - The blind levels should be correctly handled, within 1 hand difference. Though I am unsure as to the table name being used correctly in order for PokerTracker to identify the game correctly. If it doesn't work, drop Mr. Flibble a line and he'll see to it that it gets fixed.
    - For MTTs note that there is no automatic table-move or anything. In other words, you'll have to open up all tables and let Gold Mine track those (all of them). This works for up to 20 tables. On the web site you can read how to open up to 20 tables (legal 'trick', no hacking or any software required).

Currently Poker Tracker does not support SnG/MTT games on the Tribeca network. Gold Mine will be able to datamine these when PT does add this option. The same goes for 7 card stud games.

This hand happened today online. I had recently sat down against players I'd never played before. One player in particular I had 3900 hands observed using Gold Mine and noticed he had a 2% preflop raise percentage when this hand came up.

With those stats the villain's raise usually means one thing AKs KK or AA, and knowing this certainly saved me $50+ in this hand.

What would you have done if the flop had an Ace and a Queen?

Does anybody know if there's a way go show player stats using gametime+ for tables that you aren't sitting at?

I haven't tried it but perhaps try selecting a player at that table as your playing name in GT+ and then select the table they're at.

Probably topped up. But maybe it would have been my most inspired laydown...really don't know.

    I had to ask:)

    I have tried it and
it bombs out on me after just a a short while with the following error recorded hands 0
    overall total: 0

    and a stop message

i left it run and this happened several times

This messagebox should appear when you run the program. You must have one or more poker tables open fully visible on your main screen - the tables can overlap. Then when you run Gold Mine the message box you described opens and it will record the hand histories periodically.

Short answer: Wait a full minute and you'll see.

Long answer: This is actually the way the software works. Gold Mine waits for 30 seconds in between each 'run'. This is because there is no need to continueisly scan all tables for hands. Gold Mine can actually process many hands at the same time. For example, if you open up tables and after a while run Gold Mine. All hands in the history will be processed, not just the ones from the moment you start Gold Mine.

To change the duration of the waiting period, go to Start > All Programs > Gold Mine > Configuration and change the "Wait=30" into -for example- "Wait=60" to wait 60 seconds between each 'run' instead.

During each wait Gold Mine will display a window to show you how many hands are processed and also a stop button, to stop Gold Mine. When Gold Mine is active, you cannot use your computer for anything else (well, not actively since Gold Mine moves the mouse around by itself etc.)

Sounds like a poorly-behaved program to me.

And have you established whether your users are breaking their T&Cs on Tribeca by using your program? Most sites ban datamining, so are you storing up trouble for your paying customers?

Its not meant to be used while playing. Rather, its meant to be left running at night / during breaks etc. to gather information about players. As such, it does not involve any illegal activities (like hacking / reverse engeneering and such). Gold Mine is screenscraping software basically and impossible to detect by the poker client unless they include coding to look for Gold Mine specifically. I do not know about (and am not involved in) legalities concerning datamining policies by Tribeca. But it certainly seems innocent to me looking at other software out there that communicates hands real-time to gain an unfair advantage.
