    Hi,
We got Teddy from this lady http://www.cute-pups.com/ .

I cant recommend her highly enough. Teddy (my cav) is in perfect nick, no health issues at all. The bitches are well looked after and the place is spotless. Give her a call.

When you say "for my two year old" I take it you do not mean that it will be "hers" to play with and to look after?

I think it is absolutely brilliant for kids to grow up together with dogs, but you do realise that until your daughter is about 8 - 10 she should not be left unsupervised with the dog ...so this means a lot of extra work for you.

Especially in the beginning. With a two year old and a pup you will basically have two energetic toddlers to look after.

As for jealousy and being temperamental ...I wouldn't neccesarily pin that on any type or breed of dog exclusively, it is the upbringing and training really that does or does not make them so.

With all small dogs, people have a tendency to spoil them rotten ...until the little critter is too full of itself and gets out of hand ...only to be branded jealous and temperamental thereafter.

King Charles can be also jealous and very tempermental, the are quite possesive of their toys and possessions they can snap when bothered and my two hate anyone coming to the house. I dont' trust them with young kids especially a toddler who will spend quite a bit of time on the floor along side them. They are supposed to have a great disposition towards children, but i honestly wouldn't recommend them. They are indoor dogs and not really suitable for outside stays.
Delicate dogs, expect high vet bills!

actually i don't agree at all. mine is very affectionate and great with company, my little cousins love him. have only started having vets bills now that he is nearly 10 years old-which is quite old for that breed so is to be expected. once you keep an eye on their diet and make sure they get regular exercise they live much longer as many of this breed get over weight and develop heart problems cos tehy look so cute people keep giving them snacks adn treats. i was quite strict with mine on that front and it worked. teh only prob we have with him is dry eyes which ain't bad. lovely dogs!!

ANY dog can be tempermental and possesive, it's all in the training and how you treat them. Your 2 certainly wouldn't be the norm for the breed, i be interested to know where you got them from, a good training class might be helpful to you too.

Teagan, you really should research a bit more before getting a dog. Assuming that a Cav will be ideal while a terrier will be vicious is asking for trouble, as i said earlier ANY dog (especially puppies) will need a great deal of training and attention if it is to fit happily into a family.

Obviously I didn't mean that the pup was for my 2 year old to play with and look after.
I now have a king charles, as a companion for her and it is a great dog. She loves it, they spend every day out in the back garden together, it never leaves her side. She's very affectionate towards it.
As for terriers my father has had three, which were brought up with us as kids but still had a jealous streak in them and could not be trusted 100%. I know a few people with king charles cavaliers who can do nothing but praise them.
