PAL/NTSC question

I bought 2 xbox 360 games off a shop on ebay
    The advertisment stated

This game is 'W' coded which means it can be played on any region console.
GUARANTEE: WE GUARANTEE YOU THAT THIS GAME IS REGION FREE ( W CODE ). IT CAN BE PLAYED ON ANY XBOX 360 REGION CONSOLE OR ELSE YOUR MONEY BACK!

When the game was delivered last week, there is a label on the outside stating "NTSC J"
I presume J stands for Japan so the seller is in Asia
I know in Europe we use Pal, and America and Asia use NTSC.

Can an NTSC game work on a PAL tv?
I haven't opened the games yet as they're still sealed and I may have to return them
Emailed the seller 4 times but no reply

    Thanks for your help

What games are they? Some 360 games are region free.

If your TV is fairly new it should have no problems supporting NTSC.

    GRAW and Predator:Far Cry

One of the lads in work was saying that new Tv's were compatible with NTSC adn Pal. Just looking for second opinions before I open the games.

if you set your 360 to output at 60 htz it should be fine.

i have an ntsc version of doa4 and it works fine

Just tried them and they do work.

I was very suprised as I always thought NTSC and PAL were incompatible.

no thats just the signal. its just region encoding that stops em working. most tvs nowadays can handle ntsc as well
