SE Double Chance Tonight

    Who's heading along to this?

I'm going to save myself a fiver tonight and avoid the last longest bets. A return to pure rock like play is on the cards, though some pre-poker beers may stop that from happening.

I'm hoping to have quads cracked by a royal flush tonight, as it's the only bad beat that i havn't suffered in that tourney yet.

    Runner runner would be preferable.

Will probably go (might get there a little late due to boozing after Chinese). Good call on the last longest, I've never won one of those. I think they jinx the rocks amoung us.

If only! After spending too long in the pub, I made it to the poker desk two minutes too late to play! Oh well, a good night's sleep will be my reward - hope someone can contribute a nice report tomorrow to help pass the work day for the rest of us.

Good turn out - 60 players. I finnished 9th for E60 which is break-even. Not so bad for a night out. I don't think there were any other boardies on the FT but who knows......

I had a good start getting up to 5k by end of 1st level. Then bullied with the big stack for a while and got away with it. During the last level before the break I lost 2.5 k after pushing on the button with QQ and called by BB with A10. Next hand I lost 3k after pushing with KK and called by A8 who hit trip 8 on the flop.

I went card dead after the break and only won 2 small pots before FT. I was in seat 9 so had 7 free looks. Still card dead.

Now, here's the thing - I hadn't seen a hand in three hrs. On my SB on FT I was dealt K9o. This was the best hand I'd seen in a while. Blinds were 800/1500 and going up to 1000/2000 on the next hand. I had total 5.5k. There was a raise to 6k and 2 callers - definately value in it for me however, I felt I must be way behind. I went through 30 seconds of pondering and while mathimaticly I should call I felt at least one of them has to have at least AK which will just leave me with my 9. I also was going to get the button on the next hand which will give me 7 free looks. I folded. They all had high cards but none of them had a K. a King hit the board and my pair of Ks would have won the pot. Had I stayed in I would have quadroupled up putting me in the game with average stack. Did I do compleetly the wrong thing by folding??? Would anyone else have folded K9o in that situation??? I know mathematicly I should have called but I really felt I was way behind and probably in on a wing and a prayer.

    Anyway, an enjoyable night

I would probably have pushed long before that seeing as I only have about 3.5BBs left.

Lucky for me €60 was taken off the top for 10th, as my push on the button with K4o with 4xBB left was crippled by KQo.

happy with the result, as the best hand I'd seen all night was JJ followed by 55.

were you on table 6 for most of the night in seat 8?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

6 seat 5 until the break. Donal was sitting on my right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

ahh rite...i was across the way from you in seat 2 until the break.

got done by the A rag merchant. when the guy between us pushed.
had pocket tens but knew if i tried to shove my stack in he was gonna call.

had to fold when the A hit the flop.

i went out about 1/2 an hour after our table broke up when i shoved my stack of 3k in with JT of diamonds on button with one limper, blinds fold and limper calls with KTo.

i was hoping my rock image for that 1/2 an hour on the table would make him fold.

    thats funny!

Washout in this tournament be very wary of making a move based on this assumption no matter how long your at the table.

The fold is not a bad move and you were doing it for the correct reasons, but I've been in this same position a few times lately and it comes down to the fact, do you want to sit there and play for 8 or 7 placing or do you want to win the tourney. I would normally push with 2 limpers, raise's would depend on the players, but with a flat call I would see weakness, but your hoping for a lot of luck and if you pass, your getting 7 more chances to double up and live for another round. But I think most players here would be pushing for value with any 2 cards.

Hello, 1st post on here, I was there last nite as well made FT, finnish 6th as was 2nd shortest at FT. Think Vegas Nights was the shorty if I am reading this right. Think I was talking to Ianmc also, Were you feeling the "heat" most of the nite?

Ye- I was the short stack on FT. When I folded the K9, on the next hand I was dealt AJ and went all in. I was called by KK and the flop had a K in it followed by another K on the turn. That was the end of me.

Where were you sitting on FT? Were we on the same table before that?

    Well played - nice result.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭ligger

I was sitting dead opposite at the FT. Went out with PK 77 on my BB V A8 and he hit an 8 on the flop, ho hum

Ian always feels the heat, must be the pressure :p

I was table 6 seat 1, was in the same spot until the table broke.

Washout where you not in seat 7? Everyone who sat in seat 2 at my table got knocked out, it was like they were in a hurry to leave.....could have sworn I washed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Ah if washout was seat 7 then I know who he is. i think that's right. ligger, yeah i was absolutely roasting, cos I was getting a hangover and the air conditioning in the SE is fooked.

I reckon I would have won it except for that. LOL.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭ligger

Ian, so it was AC that took you down rather than AK..:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Ligger who are you by the way? I assume you were at table 2?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

you guys now have me wondering if i was at table 6 at all at all.

actually no wait your right....it was seat 7 i had the table reversed in my head....doh!.

i started on table 7 where the dealer sits facing the exit door and on 6 he sits facing the desk...that had me confused as it seemed the position was the same.

id say it was the guy in seat 9 knocking everyone out with marginal hands rite?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Yeah washout, not marginal. Utter sh*te. He had a monster stack going to the FT as well. He's disgustingly bad on a cash table. I berated him for limping oop with K rag when I rivered him. he seemed pretty annoyed but in fairness I had about 100 outs there, so for 600 more it was an auto-call.

The one decent pocket pair I had i folded when shorty was all in and then loosy goosy just flat called. I temporarily turned into a clam and threw JJ away, thinking I was at best racing for all my chips. I was disgusted when he turned over A rag. That was probably my only mistake of the night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭ligger

Was sitting to your right at table 2 then was moved to you left on table 3. You folded PK 22 to my raise and you said we were gonna be racing if you called.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Lol, if i'd had 22 i woulda been calling all day. I think i had 84 or something similar. The ducks are my lucky hand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

Ive come across him a few times..he does my head in....just makes the most ridiculous calls.

he seems to have speeded up his play though when first i came across him he used to spend an age making decisions...checking his cards two or three times huffing and puffing over decisions.

He nearly dogged Peter when he called his all in with middle pair (he had Q8) on an Ace high board. Everyone knew Peter had an ace because his minimum starting hand requirements are AA KK or AK. He may limp QQ on the button in an unraised pot! :p

 That's rich coming from Rocky McRockerson from Rocksvill's Rockier Brother, who even Rocky McRockerson looks on in scorn for his unbelievable rock like play. :p

I think that might be a new record for the use of the term rock in a sentance. :)
