I know how to put all the data from a mysql table onto a table on a servlet. But Id like to know how do I make certain cells from the table that on the servlet editable? so that someone could write something into the cell and have that transferred to the mysql table

Not trivial, but it's probably easiest using JSF and its expression language connecting to the backend database.
