Hi all long time lurker first time poster!

anywho i have a few questions any help would be greatly appreciated

1 my calf muscle was pulled outta place awhile ago and it was pushed around to the front of my shin.when it happened a friend pushed it back round for me.now it was fine up until i started heavy training so i could get back into football again.in the end i pushed it too far now my calf muscle keeps seizing up and causin me a load of pain.

it currently is out of place as in its upside down (or thereabouts) i was wondering if there is anythin i can do about it?

2 could anyone give a rundown on their training?been awhile since i had to do drills myself what do ye normally do during a training session?

any help would be great cheers lads

Well for the calf id get down to a Physio or maybe even a specalist as quick as you can! With out your calf working properly you wont be playing much GAA at all!!

Sounds like you might need surgery to repair the damage mate. That sounds like a crippling problem you have.

Other terrible conditions I have witnessed people go through is inflamed sciatic nerves, slipped discs, groin tears and pulls, hamstring injuries and torn quadriceps.

Get yourself to a physiotherapist/ athletic trainer/ sports rehabilitator as soon as possible.

They can assass you and put you on a conservative (non surgical) rehabilitation (exercise) programme so long as you haven't managed to rupture your achilles tendon. Surgery is not always the first option but rather the last.

What makes you think that you will have to go for surgery? Have you already been seen by a professional such as a doc or consultant?

if you injured yourself in an official GAA match you are entitled to compensation

get onto your club secretary if this is the case immediately

Just have a feelin the way its sittin, is there like a string like tendon or something at the calf muscle or thereabouts? When the calf seizes up i feel something tightening at the front of my shin and sometimes there is even a line too

Alas no it happened when i was on holidays. Strong undercurrent + me swimming in the opposite direction = calf muscle gettin reefed outta it!

    GAA Man

There are a lot of different things that your leg/calf problem could be. It is impossible for any therapist be able to tell you whats going on without a proper physical examination. Muscles such as the Tibials, Peroneals or calf muscles can go into spasm due to overstrain and actually cause a great deal of discomfort. It rarely means surgery unless you have ruptured your achilles tendon.

Don't be a wimp get yourself assessed and then consider your options. An assessment doesn't mean a guess (no matter how educated) over the forum. Any therapist worth their salt will need to see you to give an asessment.
