You need AU$5000. Thats about €3300.

You don't need to have any money in an Oz bank account before you enter. You can't have an Oz bank account until you enter. They request that you have "Enough money to support yourself" or something like that but you'll just need a statement from your Irish bank account with the money in it. Unless things have changed drastically in 2 years...

you definatly dont need money in an Oz bank accouny. it used to be that you needed to show 3000 euro but i went through Australian Visas in Temple Bar and as far as i can remember they didn't ask me for any bank statement. check it out.

As others have said you don't need any money in an australian bank account. You just need proof of funds.

Do a search, this topic has come up a few times before.

I was in Oz last year and I didn't have to prove I had ay money anywhere! I had it if they had requested it but they didn't request it.
