CRT Monitor - End of the road?

I've had this CRT monitor near 5 years now, used pretty much every day since I bought it at high res and high refresh rate.
    It's a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 920 19inch CRT.

For the past few months when I turn it on first thing in the morning the screen flicks back off after a wee while. It used to try and put itself back on but now actually cannot. It turns itself off and I need to keep turning it off and on again until it decides to display, and hope it stays on. In a few minutes more it might turn itself off again. However once it's properly "on" it will stay on for the duration of the day. It seems cutting power to it (ie. turning it off) causes whatever to reset and the problem to re-occur.

I should also mention that the degauss function doens't work.
It seems it doesn't have enough juice to do it. It's meant to do it when it starts but instead of doing a big "BUMPH" sound it goes "click" and a brief wiggle out of it. Trying to degauss normally usually results in that.

    Has anyone seen this before?
I think it's just come to the end of the road, because as far as I can tell it's not beside anything hugely magnetic or anything like that.
    Quick google revealed nothing :-/

Zyox, desperately trying to make it last 2 months more.

It's probably a loose connection inside, probably a bit of solder that has dried out and cracked. Doubt there'd be much you can do to fix it though, sometimes banging them in the right place can work wonders :)

We once had a loose power connector with the same thing, and we opened up the casing (very very carefully) and re-soldered the bit, but this was easily accessible, and still not advisable as monitors will hold a large charge that can kill. It's not going to be worth that. A cheap 17" TFT costs €200 and could replace it, and being it with you wherever you go in 2 months (they're light).

Already bringing the tower to Canada :/ No way I'm lugging (most likely couriering) a TFT as well.

Just gonna have to make it last the 2 more months I guess :/

You can pick up a second hand CRT off the wanted section for 25-30 euros.

I don't want a new or second hand one, I love this monitor >_<

I feel like I'm having my grandmother put down :(

well if you feel that way maybe you should get it cremated and then it will be with you always!

Have a feeling it'll cremate itself if I keep trying to make it last like this.
