As always, have a look at www.chrisguitars.com - your budget is just on the cusp of getting something really, really good 2nd hand, if that's something you wouldn't be against.

What sort of music do you play and what sort of sound are you going for.

I'm quite into blues, rock and metal to an extent.
I really like Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters and a lot of other blues stuff thats probably not worth listing,
Hendrix, Zappa, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, Cream etc etc
So i play a fair bit of the sorta classic rock/blues stuff

This is pretty nice for $650 - the Blueshawk

It'd work out about €750 after shipping and taxes

Do you know anything of their quality at all, because i'm seriously considering the guitar?

Actually I think they might be made in China.. I played one in MM and it didnt feel great. Then I played an over 2 grand one and it felt like I had suddenly come home.

to be brutally honest the low end gretch justifys it's low end price, but the gibson is somewhat of a sleeper and can really scream... and you can't argue with it's price either!

My two cents- dont bother with the gretsch- its not a 'real' gretsch only an electromatic- lower end model equivalent to Squier by fender...tried that exact model in MM before with a bigsby and it sucked balls - just sounds like any other crap low budget guitar imo. A big waste of money - I would suggest going to the most you can go say €700 and have a look in buy and sell for a bargain usa fender strat or tele. mexican ones arent half bad either you should get one for 300-400ish but still I would say buy the best you can afford. Even to the point of (if you really really want a pro axe and know someone travelling to US) saving to about €1400 and buy a Les Paul ! seriously you'll save in the long run.

Meant to ask why the john 5 tele ...thats a metal axe no? Also maybe a 2nd hand gibson SG might be your bag as well...

I guess it is although John 5 plays quite a bit of Country also, I just though it was an interesting looking Tele and i liked the idea of having a humbucker on the bridge.

That Blues Hawk looks quite nice and it's well within my price range, although i'd be a bit nervous buying a second hand guitar. Hopefully i'll have the moo-lah by the end of the month and i'll hope that it's not sold by then

2nd hand is the way to go to save money and still get a top class guitar. A lot of people have bought from Chris here and he's a class act. You won't get shafted, don't worry.
