Seen this in the Puzzles/Quizzes forum a while ago.. had a go at it... wasn't a pleasant experience.

Yes.
Release shift, then press and hold the mouse button and drag...

For some reason I can't make jpegs at college so I can't post up a picture

but

Put the slanted edges of the cut rectangles against the 4 walls, each slanted side on a different wall so that there's a perfect square, albeit skewed in the centre of the box for for square to slot into

I think I can see how it would work especially if you rotate the square I'm just really not bothered anymore!!

If i was still a student, i'd be working on this right now. But since i already spent about a hour in work yesterday at it, i'm going to have to let it beat me (for now).

First up the initial description is incorrect. You are not allowed outside the boundry but you are allowed on the boundry. Secondly (in case anyone was doing it) you can't make a square from it, you only have to get them all into the square.

The actual test of the puzzle is to see if people will follow directions correctly.
