Being staked to play at higher levels

Just wondering how you'd feel at the chance.

I may be getting an offer to play at 10/20(i usually play 2/4, 3/6 sometimes 5/10 if I fancy it, and have tried 10/20 a few times and am a little up on it). This comes bankrolled, with a 50/50 split of the profits. If i lose nothing comes from my pocket.

The offer is from a respected source, not some lose and i'll do your kneecaps in style organisation.

My immediate thought was I couldnt bare to lose that money of someone elses not my own, and it might change my style. But now I know who it is I realise that the bankroll isnt that much to that person, but still alot to me.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone, how it would effect you emotionally etc.
    And would you take it?

I think you should definitely take it and it's probably a bad deal for the staker.

    No, dont accept (imho).
If you are good enough to play at a certain level, then u will be able to build up the bankroll for it at lower levels. And along the way, you will learn huge amounts about the game, and about yourself. And 100% of the profits (or losses) will be yours.
    Yours philosophically and alcoholically,
    AJ.

You only live once man, take it.

If it was me yes I'd feel bad if I lost, perhaps more so than if it was my money - in the short term at least. But I'd have a good chat with the staker and ensure s/he understood that they could lose quite alot even If I played a blinder, and a fair bit more if I didn't. And if they were still up for it I'd go for it.
Playing with someone else's money may change your style, but it may let you play better, more free. Won't know till u try.

What level might you play at?

Yeh, I do well from 2/4 and 3/6, and could build the roll for 5/10 fine, but I'm a student, and my poker money pays for my life, so I'm not really building up that fast, as I'm cashing out (or losing on sports betting :/).

The guy knows the risks, and is a very successful winning poker player himself. But he's looking to stake someone, I'm not sure why. But I should know if he's interested in it by the end of the week.

10/20 is hugely hugely hugely different from 2/4 and 3/6.

That said - bite his arm off ....

If this guy is a winning poker player and you say he doesn't really need the money....then I say take it. Sounds like he just needs a "horse", a "fix". Anyone like that should have their money taken and used with no regard. Don't feel bad.

Get the money up front and the details in writing(signed and witnessed).

BTW: Sounds like Money laundering to me. LOL
