Mp3 editing

I'm looking for a program to cut samples and shorten songs from mp3's for a radio show i'm doing. Any basic one that can do this would be fine so long as it does not lower the sample rate of the mp3 being edited as they must remain over a certain quality. Any suggestions?

Audacity is pretty good.

All my friends use Soundforge. Not sure if it's freeware though.

Audacity sounds like it's got what you want alright. Plus it's totally free and open source.
