What do users of the Horse Racing forum think of it being changed to a general equine forum which will cover: horses
    ponies
    donkeys
    mules
    hinnys.

As well as different disciplines: Racing
    Eventing
    Side saddle
    Cross country
    SHowjumping
    Dressage
    Showing
    Le Trec
    Driving
    Hacking
    Hunting
    Polo
    Pololacross etc.

Including discussion of tack/feed/methods/rider or horse progress/laws/insuranceetc.

If you feel this is not to your taste or takes away from what this forum is, please lend support in the creation of an Equestrian Forum for Boards found in the forums forum or in my sig.

Opinions and discussion on this is more than welcome.

Thank you for your time:) .

Fantastic Idea, long overdue provided the Gambling forum goes ahead too:) .

Cant see the moderators going for this to be honest (:p )t but I see no harm. Horse Racing Tips could be kept to a sticky. It would a bit more depth to the forum. Perhaps greyhound racing could be amalgamated into this forum too.

My preferences would be for three sections to the Horse Racing forum:

    Racing
    Handicapping
    Betting

But my interests only stretch to thoroughbred racing. I don't think it would be much harm having an Equestrian section

Not sure how much interest there would be, but it would certainly be no harm.

Best of luck, we are STILL WAITING ON THE GAMBLING FORUM, so Im not sure how much hope you have

There is a sports section => http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=8 . Where you can post on whatever sport you want. Why not post in there? I did a quick search on this and other sports forums, and I have not found 1 thread which talks in any depth about showjumping. Why do you feel that there is a need for it?

As for allowing Showjumping topics to be discused here, I don't really know that the two fit tbh. Why don't you kick off a couple of threads, we will see how much interest is in them, and if it merits an expansion, I'll ask one of the admins to put it in place.

Show jumping is only one discipline of many. Granted there is not an awful lot of equestrian posts but if ye build it they will come *aidedbyasharpstick*.

i think this forum sould be kept to horse racing only! that what the title says, think a seperate forum/sub forum should be set up for everything else. its active enough without general equine matters

    Agreed.
I think the "equine posts/threads" look out of place.

can we get some moderator input on these horsey, dressage, eventing, yada yada etc threads?

This is a Horse RACING board. Unless you are a professional jockey involved in racing then thats the only riding I want to see on this pages.
    :)

Hobart has already commented on the subject, he's said to post a few threads and see how it goes. I'd imagine if these Equestrian threads become popular then they'll get their own forum.

Personnaly I've no problem with them posted here, if you're not interested in them there's no need to read them. I can't see them getting much interest anyhow.

Hopefully there will be interest enough to allow an Equestrian forum

    Ugh, what a horrible idea.

This is a forum for the sport of kings, not for bloody rich horsey-set teenage girls to discuss their pretty prancing ponies

Thats quite an annoying comment. I'm neither rich, horsey set, nor teenage, and most people who keep horses in this country dont fit into that stereotype either. Oh and I ride racehorses too.

In fairness though, it doesnt fit in the horse racing forum

Sport of kings lol, more like the sport of paupers handing all their hard earned to Paddy Power & Co. Long live the equestrian forum :)

you sir, do not derserve an answer for that, i am not bloody(well not at the moment anyway), rich, teenage or a girl, but i am deeply involved in the horse industry including racing, and i frankly resent your statement.

do tell what is your involvement in The "sport of kings"? also can you even say where horse racing got that name?
