Make a cultural statement : C Both Sides

C Both Sides is an arts project originating in Westmeath in the Republic of Ireland connecting with Co.Down in Northern Ireland and as far afield as New York in the USA. Two artists want to hear from the world, in the form of a postcard, until the closing date, which is the last post of 2006. The project will culminate in an art exhibition of the collected postcards in the Mullingar Arts Centre in Co. Westmeath in February 2007 , with artworks inspired by and utilising the collection. The exhibition will tour throughout Ireland, north and south and in the USA.

The artists wish to celebrate the old art of communication through postcards and inspire a revival of the skill of handwriting . They wish to map the movements of the community and record a time in our social history. Anyone can take part to make a cultural statement: from those who have come to live in Ireland, where English may not be their first written language to those who live across borders who wish to communicate internationally.

All you have to do to be part of this global art project is send a postcard to either or both artist . Your postcard must be regular size : no larger than 5.5 inches x 4 ( 14 cm x 10 cm). Your postcard can be home/hand made and must be sent through the post, stamped and franked with date and origin. You have complete artistic freedom in your self expression, be it visual or literary.
