    Hi,
I've just done a little clean up, but when I uninstall files using the proper uninstaller, there are still folders in the program files left with files taking up space. I remember I had a program ages ago, where you could just right click a folder and choose to uninstall it. It would uninstall shortcuts linked to the files etc etc. Can anyone recommend something free that will do this?

Also, there seems to be loads of TEMP folders around the computer, one in C:\, one in C:\WINDOWS and another in C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings

Is it ok to just highlight all these files and click delete or may they be in use by important programs or system files?

Also, what's a good free recovery tool in case I ever delete a file I want back?

    Would appreciate any feedback!

    Hi,
it's ok to delete files from the temp folders you mentioned.
You can go into your temp internet files and delete them as well.

Beware deleting folders that point to progs deleted....you might just delete the wrong one by mistake....

I'd say if they arent huge leave them, just in case...

tried that recovery thing but it's not as good as the one I had before:( you have to recover to an external drive and it's very hard to search for specific files, it shows every folder instead of files, and searches everything instead of searching for something specific. I remember the last one I had just made a folder called "recover" I think, I dont think it even had an install shield, but it was free and easy to use. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I think I deleted it off my system and never kept the file to put it back on.:(
