About to brew but ?

    I am goin to be starting in a few weeks and am stuck for space/ worried about temp and smell. I have a brewmaker kit a 25L bucket and 5gal pressure barrel and some tubing. sanitizer / yeast/ yeast nutrient and brewmakere pils tin. Will i be ok if i brew it up as per instructions obviously and let it sit in a garden shed ( concrete walls and felt roof nice and dry but thankfully I never spent a night in there!! dont know about temp variations effecting etc...)only other place is in the hallway by the back door ( seldom used) but girlfriend may give out about any smells as it is between bedroom and sitting room..Any help secrets / instructions are appreciated...would like to get it right first time....also is it possible to get kits( tin etc) to make belgian beer like leffe brun or Grimbergen duble ...or an similar abbey ale ......I presume they are for the more advanced brewer though....the guy in the place i bought from was fairly sure i ouldnt go wrong by just sanitise and mix it all up ..made no mention of temp really....or being carefull syphoning..he was well seasoned at it....any help is appreciated....

    Keeping the equipment clean is the most important thing.
    You should try to keep the temp between 18-23 C. Higher might kill the yeast while lower will just slow it down, so that's not a major problem.

    I think that the hallway near the back door might be good. There will be little or no smell. It's only carbon dioxide (just like you exhale) being given off.
    If you had a digital thermometer with a memory you could put it in the shed for a day or two and see the min and max temps.

    I'm sure you can get special beers. There are a few at Grape N'Grain. They say that their online catalogue is not complete (which is a bit silly) so you could contact them about such beers.

    You need to get your hands on Brewferm kits, I got them through a uk website, can't remember which and am travelling no so not much time to search, sorry.
    They have a Duvel clone called Diabalo, which is superb, also a dark christmas ale, a whitebeer like Hoegaarden and some others -

    I've done the Abdij, Christmas, Diabolo and Tarwebier. They need a good long conditioning time (I made my xmas beer in August last year, and it was good by christmas, but the 6 bottles I have saved will be even better by next christmas!)
    Also they tend to make small amounts - 9 or 15 litres instead of 23 litres. Still though, quality not quantity eh?
