The most absolute must see, in terms of Horror, is Don't Look Now. Absolute masterpiece of film-making, and an incredibly influential film.

and there is also various nationalities to consider.A lot of dull Hollywood horrors get their inspiration from non-english speaking sources.

    Check out Nattevagten
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110631/
Its the Danish original of the Hollywod adaptation "Nightwatch".And it is much much better.

How about Suspiria and The Brood?

And I second Don't Look Now... it's a very good film.

You ridicule the man for suggesting those movies and then you go and recommend the village and the sixth sense? I tend to go for low budget 70's horror(The hills have eyes, Texas chainsaw massacre(best horror movie ever), dawn of the dead, Haloween), video nasties(and zombie flicks, most of which are video nasties:) ) just look up wikipedia for a list of these or Jap horror(Dark water, ringu, Ju-on,tale of two sisters, Jap horror really is in a different class to the hollywood tripe spewn out these days). Jap horror really puts the ****s up me for some reason, really pushes my buttons:D

And of course the omen and the original 'The exorcist' , always food for a 'laugh'

Try Candyman. It's one of the few 'slasher' films that doesn't make me want to smash my TV up in rage. It's about a ghost (well played by Tony Todd) who disembowels people with a hook. Also it was written by Clive Barker.

And The Thing, don't forget that. It features the most visceral alien ever seen in a film and Kurt Russell. So it's a win win situation either way really.

Please excuse my ignorance. I apologise to all members of boards for my unforgivable blunder:rolleyes: Ok so I should have said asian horror(after a 12 hour night shift and 24 hours without sleep I could barely see straight:p ) but do you want to actually add some suggestions for horror movies rather than just nitpicking at others posts.

Check out Return of the Living Dead 1, 2, 3. Haven't seen 4. That is if you like pure horror cheese, which I love.

Children of the Corn is cool, Phantasm is a great flick too. Also, I really like Near Dark.

No, I think I'd prefer to nitpick.

You know what movie I haven't even thought about in ages, and just now realise who cool it would be to see again? Village Of The Damned. The 1995 version with Christopher Reeve and Kirstie Alley. That was a great watch. I've never seen the 1960 original.

I think you will find that I said they are good for jumps, which they are, are they not?

And all 'Jap' to me is the same thing, spooky ghost children walking jerky with no eyes....

But back to Cabin Fever...wtf! No jumps, no scares! Maybe its because I cant stand Eli Roth...

Not all horror is jumps and scares. Cabin Fever = Excellent. Babyding = right. Go Babyding!
