Hard drive failing

    Hi,

I am sure the HDD on my PC is dying. On start up, it gives a loud clicking/snapping noise for a few seconds.
Sometimes it will go as far as the windows XP screen and just sit there continually with the blue dashed line scrolling away. Sometimes it will start and the go to a bloack screen with "Operating System Not Found" at the top. And some times it will go straight to the "Operating System Not Found".

But, it was originally a W2K machine and I upgraded to XP pro (legally). Also there is some other 'tricky' software on it, like VPN security software.

So, is it possible to install a second, blank, hard drive, and then mirror all the info onto it, to save me having to re-install everything, and having to buy a new OS?

    Cheers

there are numerous ways you could do this, you could do it manually with a slave drive provided you can still boot from your 'dodgy drive'. or use a ghosting program to ghost the hard drive and make an exact copy, this will also keep all your settings. if i were u though id be quick about it cos clickety hard-drive = possible heartbreak
